over here so I am taking advantage of starting the cup final memories thread.

My mate and I got to Wembley from Germany for the game via a ticket from a Met Police football official. Nobody there wanted it cos it was Northern teams.Unfortunately it was a 25quid one and we swapped it for 2 10quid ones. They were in the Leeds end and we had to appear as neutral as we could. The benefit of that though was seeing the red & white end which was unbelievably brilliant.

The game went by in a flash and we could let rip with a few other supporters around us and the sight of Stokoe's sprint had us all glowing. We latched onto some Sunderland supporters in the pubs not too far from the Edgeware Road - At the end of the night the footbal pink had been shipped down to London and I will always remember that headline "Its Ours".

An expensive but brilliant weekend that has lived with me since, later today I'll play the DVD of the game later on today and feel good all over.

Sadly, its nearly 40 years since that momentous day in 73 and for a club like SAFC, that can still boast 40k plus crowds, that's a stain on our club.

Will we ever see the likes again? Who knows but with this managers track record in cups, we're going to have lots of fun trying.

Salute the 73 lads always but honestly, I'm tired of celebrating something that happened 4 decades ago.

I crave something far more tangible from the here and now. Come on Marty, end this 40 year famine and make a new history for the 21st Century..

Spot on Cest. Football is about seizing the moment and keeping it forever. The magic phrase "I was there", been to Wembley other times but that day still at forefront of memories. A slow season had a burst of rainbow at the end.
