I just want you all to know that the great end to an unbelievable season, is not due to the team, staff or the collective fans but me and just me, as I purged all the negativity from the ground by wearing my lucky underpants which I last wore when we beat Barnesley, my lucky baseball cap which I wore against Doncaster and my lucky Saints shirt that I wore against Peterborough. I chose not to wear the unlucky Saints shirt I wore against Portsmouth and Reading, and I also refused to drink two pints before the game because last time I had two pints we lost against Middlesborough. Joking aside who wore, did something or said something because they thought it was a talisman?
Actually, today I did something that I haven't done all season. I watched the kick off. For years, I haven't watched the kick off; always looked away. But driving down today, I said to myself that there was no need for nerves, we were going to win and I promised myself that I was going to watch the kick off.... I did.
I wore my lucky shirt, that I wore for most League One games I went to - the dark blue away kit. Never seen a loss wearing it, brought it out of retirement today. I'm not normally one for superstition but hey, it clearly worked.
