I don't think it was a straight red card, yes it was a very poor tackle, but no straight red. And anyway, that doesn't make him a cheat, it makes him a bad tackler, so back to my first question, how is Holt a cheat, let alone a diver?
It was the most straight forward red card you are ever likely to see! The ref that day was a blatant homer and I knew after that incident that we were going to get nothing which is exactly what happened!
Because he goes down easily at the slightest brush! do i blame him if he can get away with it, No. would i still call him a cheat yes!
...but danny haynes isn't according to you oh and warky, would you say priskin's elbow was not worse than holt's challenge cos i certainly would! on another day they'd both have been off, priskin was very lucky to get away with his - at least the ref spotted holt's challenge!!
There have been a couple of games this season (can't remember the exact ones) when even some of your posters were embarassed by the amount of times he threw himself to the floor!
Yes I agree Supers but in fairness we weren't talking about that! The Delaney sending off was not a sending off when you consider that it was on the halfway line and Holt threw himself to the floor under minimal contact. That's why we label him a cheating diver because imo he deliberately got a fellow professional sent off. The blatant use of his arm to control the ball prior to him scoring! I don't know how many more examples you need Fact is he should have been sent off and to compound that his play acting resulted in us having a player sent off!
this thing about it being minimal contact - it really wasn't. he pulled hard on his arm! fact is, it probably wasn't enough for him to fall over because he is, shall we say, solid, but it certainly prevented him from a clear run on goal and therefore had he not gone down would have lost the opportunity. whether it was worthy of a red is certainly up for debate but not whether it was a blatant infringement, which it was! as for the handball, i've not seen one clip of that goal where it clearly hits his arm - and until i see one, it wasn't handball. just cos his arm was near the ball doesn't mean it was handball - the ball never changed direction into his path did it!!
sadly though, they do or refs tend to miss it. take hoolahan the other week against stoke i think it was, when he got kicked in the box and stayed on his feet - no penalty.
