Celtic have started off this season with ten games unbeaten in the SPL . Its ten years since we have achieved this and I am wondering is this team the best Celtic have had over the past ten years since after M. O'Neil's great side that brought us all the way to Seville .
I think we have to be honest the standard of the other scottish clubs has dropped . In 2004 our hardest games were against Rangers and Hearts , one of them is now dead and other playing their youth team .Another point the referees don't go out of their way producing miracle honest mistskes, they know it wont cost us the league .
I think the experience our players got last year in the Champions League has more than off set the difference in quality of those who have left compared to those we have brought in . I know it is only October, but the team is playing with more conviction in Europe and in the SPL. I am fully confident that as the season proceeds Pukki, Balde and Briton will all perform to a high standard. The more Competitive games we have in Europe the better we will become.
People like stereo and Harry may have different views than I have, but that's no problem, they usually know what they are talking about. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Ellis who just chucks out nonsense everytime he posts.
I would say the difference between this season and last is we don't have players of the quality of Wilson, Wanyama and Hooper but the players that remain are more experienced after last year's CL campaign. They know how to win games before and after CL games now. I reckon we'll end up strolling the title with around 21 points to spare.
It's arguable that the team isn't as good as last year. It appears the players who left have been replaced with inferior players (with the probable exception of Wilson for Van Dijk). But it's early days and there is some promise in them all. Our league results have been decent but the performances not exactly stellar. Europe has been (surprisingly) good.
It is so easy to look back at the end of the season and assess how good or how poor the team is . That is rather simple , what I was trying to do was flush out opinions after just ten league matches, and at the end of the season we could see who was spot on and who was miles out . I am afraid too many have chickened out. Come on, take a chance , so we have something to look back at. If we do turn out to appear to be better, then we will have fully justified the Celtic Long term planning , buying young , coaching these players and selling off the best couple, yet team continues to improve .
Lost three good players last season , We have replaced Wilson with a better player , Victor and Hooper have been replaced by different types of players . Ledley , Matthews and Forrest injury problems , Mulgrew , Ambrose, Izzie and Stokes form has improved from last season our three top performers form remain the same Fraser F , big Sammie and Lustig and our captain is just pure mental as per usual but is the main stay in our team .
