So we are in for a very quiet week with just international friendlies to watch or read about. I can't summon up any enthusiasm for watching England v Holland whereas in the past I would have been avidly looking forward to it. All the recent debacles seem to have put me right off and I just can't raise any interest. Is it just me or do others feel the same?
I used to plan things around England games, but I'm off to the pics on Wednesday and may not be back in time. Not really bothered...the team just isn't good enough and Saints are far, far more important.
The 2010 World Cup just killed it for me as far as England are concerned. I don't think I will ever recover from that debacle...
The England rugby team are worth watching. A new coach is giving young talent an opportunity to develop. A steep learning curve means that results in the short term may suffer for the sake of long term growth, but that's how you build for the future-take the pressure off, don't be afraid to fail, and support each member of the team. I'm sure the future England football manager will take exactly the same approach.
The only thing that I'm concerned about this week is Lambert and Lallana resting up and hopefully being fit, and injury free come the Leeds game.
The multi national premier league and champions league have made international friendlies dead as a spectacle. I will drum up enthusiasm for euro 2012, but a friendly with a squad of uninspiring choices means nothing. A few players got "injured" at the weekend.
As said in Blackadder goes Fourth: I was more impressed in the contents of my handkerchief the last time I blew my nose...
Not bothered, I'm working when the game is on anyway. However, I am leaving my job a week early to watch Saints on Saturday!
