Excellent piece North, Ladbroke Grove was a fantastic area to be brought up and of course the famous Bush, I am delighted to say I have got wonderful memories of the area.
Hi.... brilliant thread! An Rs fan for over 50 years, living in Buckinghamshire, brought up in Kilburn, born to Irish parents and regulary commute over to Mayo where I know Brendan well. Just to say, this subject has been discussed for many years without success, although now with this new regime, who are at least listening to fans, I think it could really happen at some stage. As stated the Gallens do have connections in Donegal, but also in Mayo where I've met both Jim and Tess on occasions. Think we need to get as many on board as possible to make this happen. Had almost given up on this..... but you never know!! Good luck with it.
What a bleedin' week! Scoured the streets of Heidelberg for a pub to watch the Newcastle game on Monday. My third pub visited (after the first two had dreary German pub quizzes and music) finally had the game. Saw the last half hour. GOOD result. Watched the rugby, hungover, in a pub (finally on coffee), on the Aran Islands this morning. FANTASTIC result. Almost puked on the ferry back to the mainland. DECENT result (didn't puke). Nearly hit the motorway barrier around Athlone when I heard there were two goals at Molineaux. BRILLIANT result (not hitting the barrier and, of course, the 0-3!). Babysitting tonight.....
Lads, all going well, i am due back home next july. I am interested in either buying a season ticket or heading to every odd home game next season. Would love to see us being more organised at home. I would gladly travel to Dublin every home game to meet all the lads. If not i am sure we can arrange something
good luck trying to organise a meet over here, I can't even get a reply with regards actually heading to a place to watch us on tv.
'LETTER TO THE CLUB' Well, it's done and being sent before this weekend. It's more than a letter though, it had to be to reflect your input throughout this thread. Carlow, Mayo, Swords, you've all said that you've been banging on Rangers door for a while now, trying to forge closer links between the club and its Irish fanbase. The letter accompanies a document entitled, 'Broadening Our Irish Fan-Base: Irish QPR Fans Online Asking âAre We Worth It?' and attempts to draw the attention of Phil Beard, the classy new CEO, to the opportunities closer ties with Irish Rs would present. View the document Roller has kindly stored the entire document on this link: http://www.filedropper.com/broadeningouririshfan-base-160911 Copy and paste it into your browser. Once you're in, press 'download' and the document will appear. No need to register or log in. What needs to be made clear is that this is about you and QPR. My part in this is simply to act as a conduit between you on not606 and iQPR and the club. For that reason I picked back through the thread for the most relevant things you seemed to want to say. You're all in the document. Well, all being: Finglas, cavanrebel, dublin dave, Inkedupp, QPRNUTS, KilkennyHoop, Ciarrai_Abu, Tramore Ranger, turbo_quups, CORKeR, SwordsHoopster, corrib ranger, qprmayo, Carlow (Garry), ClonmanyHoop and even a cameo from Woodyhoopleson! The subheadings are these: Letâs Team Up with Ireland! What Irish Rs Would Like to See QPRâs Deep Rooted Connections with Ireland Irish Rs Fly the Flag Evidence of Support Eamonnâs Story What Irish Rs Are Saying Online What the Papers Say Commercial Opportunities Irish spend â¬145m on visits to Premier League Question of Sponsorship Rs People Who Could Help Last Words Hope youse approve!
Hi jj. We've laid a new foundation to your quest - check the link in the post above. Updated roll call: Ciarrai, Twins, Swords, Dens, Turbo, Corrib, Inkedupp, Belfast, Kingdom, MOS, Dublin, NUTS, Rebel, Stan, Kilkenny, Tramore, the Clonmany Three, RCB, CORKeR, Mayo, Carlow, Irish, Finglas, jjcolls... Who else?
I'm not sure what you all want to do from here. I suggest carry on your discussions about forging closer links with the club on this same thread. I'm sure club people will catch on to the thread's existence and will monitor your ideas from time to time. Swords: It might be a good idea to post the link to the document on iQPR. Also if anyone wants a copy of the document sent to the club, private message me with your email address and I will reply and attach one for you.
see if you get a reply from the club I guess. well done for taking the time to write the letter. top marks.
All your hard work deserves a reply. Well done mate. There should be no problem downloading the document from that link for those who want a copy. If you are struggling, let me know. It is worth a look, if only to see how hard Brixton has worked on this.
A lot of work there Brix, !good stuff. I bet the thought of downloading puts a load of people off, can someone do a C & P?
Brix - just read through your letter - excellent piece of work, hope that you get a reply from someone on the board. As regards to your statement a few pages back, am I the only R based up here in Scotland? You are correct, I am an ex-pat (formally of Acton, Ealing and Northolt) but have been living out on the coast in Greenock (not Cumbernauld!) for the last 11 years. If there are any other Rs up here, drop a line, so we can get a meet up - am a bit jealous of the Irish Rs community!!!!! Would be great to get together and have a good shout at the TV with someone who loves our club without my missus telling me to shut up and stop acting like a lunatic!
Done Guys, sorry I haven't gotten round to it before now. A great piece of work and we're all very grateful for your time and effort, thanks again!
