    Deviating away slightly from the Carroll saga, what's happening with Steven Ireland? Apparently he'd failed a medical, but on SSN it seems the deals gone through. Any news on this? Could potentially soften the blow of losing Carroll.

    Aston Villa have signed a midfielder so I guess we got Ireland on loan......
