luvgonzo bringing christmas man-tech probs live from his front room to the forum #predictableas Try going in settings > carrier/network > reset network settings Then switch it on and off again lol If that doesn't work try a manual software update I just put up some more lights and managed to untangle AND not fuse or step on them in the process. My man-tech rating is currently set to HIGH
Just gutted for my kid as he can't use his present. I think it's locked to a network when it shouldn't be,
Should be an icon on your homepage when you unlock the phone that looks like a cog/gear, click on that and those are your settings, scroll down to network settings ... not sure what the problem is if it won't actually open settings, are other icons opening up for you like texts and camera etc ?? ... gotta go out for a bit mate but will have a snoop around some places i know see if i can get an answer for you
At the moment I'm getting that locked message I posted on the very first screen so I can't get to the homepage?
Just text my mate who has one of those shops that does unlocking and that before i go He says have you tried to reset the networks through settings with no sim in or with your lads sim in ... try both. Also try 'manually detect network' rather than the automatic one which is factory set to on Other things to try are 1. Normal Restart 2. Hard reset by holding the home button and sleep button, this will reboot it 3. Back it up by connecting to iTunes 4. Erase all content on phone and revert to factory settings 5. Do a restore thorugh iTunes
All I can think of if none of that works is that it just hasn't been unlocked properly. You can do it yourself with a jailbreak first then using unlocking software like Ultrasn0w which is free to download and only takes a few minutes. Google for 'jailbreak' iphone 5 ... do that Then download the above software and apply that, it gives instructions Hell, the Asian shop round the corner from me is open today and they'll probably do it on the spot right now
Thanks mate, problem is I've paid more for an unlocked phone so need a refund. Thanks for your help today.
apple changed policy on these phones. I think what occurs is that the phone registers to a network once a sim goes in even if it was network free before. you have to get the unlock code for the phone. had the phone a sim card in it before? its a 5s so was it new? was it bought second hand?
Thanks, bought a new one yesterday inserted sim and all done. Sending the other one back it was clearly locked. I'll kick off and see what I can get out of the ****ers.
Dead right. Very least you need is a really good screen protector and a case. I phones are brittle I think and the good screen covers help
First thing I ordered after getting my Samsung Galaxy s5 Neo on Tuesday. The Mrs (nm) did the same. Also ordered them for the two Samsung Tab4's we got with them (that I wrapped and gave the two eldest for Christmas)
You'd wonder why companies make their product so flimsy that a simple laminated sheet of plastic can be sold as an industry of its own to protect them
