Some of the things said about Guly have verged on the criminal. Some people seem not to be aware that racism is a criminal offence as well as being thoroughly obnoxious. I always think that racist comments tell you more about the pathetic individuals spouting it than the person at whom it is directed.
Adkins never seemed to be directly involved in signings...always kept referring to the department in charge of scouting and signings. I always assumed he was merely asked what position he wanted filled. Understandable as Nigel had always been in the lower leagues and had no experience in this area. The GK position was the one where I had doubts about Nigel. Felt sorry for SKD as he had been great in last few years and he performed badly when everyone else did...remember he still saved a penalty against United! It was too soon for Gazza and his confidence must have taken a knock. We needed an experienced goalie and I am surprised NA didn't see it...or perhaps it was Boruc in particular. Looks like all was not well in paradise and Nigel just managed to hide it from us. Hope Boruc signs...otherwise the search will be on. Hope he realises that abuse was from just a few people...racism aside, who thinks yelling at a goalie improves performance!! I suspect that Mauricio will be more involved in future signings as he has Cortese's trust (which sadly Nigel had lost).
I'm beginning to love our goalie, but ffs Artur, you did not suffer from "racist abuse". You're a white European, playing in a European country. This really ****ing annoys me. The dogs abuse black players used to get, and still do get in some countries, is hateful and unacceptable. Being taunted about your country of origin may be puerile but it is of a wholly different order, and does not constitute racism. You don't ever hear Rafa Benitez shouting "racism" when he's called a "fat Spanish waiter". We all know calling him that makes Chelsea fans look like knobs, but racist knobs? Nah.
This is one of the worst posts I have ever seen. Racism cannot only be applied to black people. 'prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior: At no stage does it mention ethnicity. To say somebody cannot suffer racist abuse because they are not black is quite frankly shameful.
Tbh a couple of black guys who were sat next to me once started saying racist crap about Lallana until I told them to shut the **** up. Any colour or creed have their fair share of racist idiots.
Black people and white people, men and women, and anyone else can experience prejudice just as much as their opposites. In terms of racism, if your race (ethnicity, country of origin etc.) is used against you in an insulting and derogatory way, it is racism, whether you are Polish, England, or Namibian. If Boruc were racially insulted it would be just as much of a big deal as if a black person were racially abused. If you argue otherwise, you yourself are creating different standards for different races, which is not far off racism itself.
Very interesting that he says he was signed by Adkins "Bosses". I suggested that Boruc, Mayuka, Yoshida and Ramirez were not signed by Adkins earlier in the season and was shot down,However it looks as if I was probably right.
This is blowing my mind. Firstly, there was black people at St Marys? And secondly, they were being racist againts whites, even though they were surrounded by 30,000 of them?
I heard Adkins was happy with just Gaza and Davis, but the board wasn't so brought Boruc. All the other players Adkins was consulted with and asked his opinion etc.
Probably not shot down because most people accept that the head coach wasn't in charge of transfers, as happens at a lot of football clubs, but fine if you want to convince yourself that you were right on the internet, then well done.
Yep they started of doing it quietly with loud laughter. At first I could only catch a few words they were saying, then after a while they got louder. It carried on for about 10-20mins, by then I was wondering if anyone else had heard it or if it was just me. Wasn't until my gf said she heard them as well then I had a word.
