    I have heard of it.....watched some crazy YouTube videos about it.

    Snuff videos and the lot...someone hiring a Hitman etc...

    I've warned my lad against divulging coz some crazy bastards have used it to hack your account n stalk n even worse.

    Yeah you need to be careful how you approach it. There's some horrible bastards out there.

    Done right though it's well worth a look. It opens up a whole different world.

    I'd advise getting a cheap laptop to use so that you're using a device that isn't linked to anything to do with you or your personal files and internet usage etc...

    Then create a USB with Tails OS on it (simple instructions available online to do this).

    Plug the USB into the laptop and boot from the USB drive.

    It's Linux but has an easy to use GUI. It won't save anything to the laptop or USB so there is no trace of anything you view and directs everything through TOR so allows you to go on onion sites and hides your location. (Make sure you click the button that looks like an S next to the address bar and "forbid scripts globally").

    Only click on links you are able to verify are actually the right onion addresses. There's some directories you don't want to use and some that are reliable. If you go to the DNM section on Reddit you can get the onion address for deepdotweb which is a good place to start. Plenty of advice on Reddit for how to use certain sites too.

    If you sign up with sites use different log in names, type differently with different personas (I'd say type as little as possible) and use keepassX to generate your passwords (already part of Tails).

    Don't ever give out any personal information. And encrypt any private messages you send (Tails has a built in tool for this).

    That should be enough to get you started and be safe for normal use. <ok>

    If you use it for things you shouldn't then maybe consider other simple steps like using it at different times to when you're normally using the internet. Using wifi that isn't your own etc....
