Anya doing what he does for the Scots - impressing and actually scoring (probably be injured as well) whilst Cathcart scored again for NI.

Wonder if the latter will start for the Irish in the Euros?

"A smart set piece by Northern Ireland but Wales were fast asleep. I think that's a finish Dean Saunders would be proud of by Craig Cathcart! He turned, swung and bang - it's in the bottom corner."

Also pleased for Simon Church. I coached Simon as an under 7 and under 8 with Chalfont Saints. You could tell that he was far and away head and shoulders above everyone else he played with and against in his age group. I wrote to Watford about getting someone to look at him or for a trial. They never responded. Shame. I'm sure he would have been signed up and would have made many appearances for us instead of Reading.

Watford striker Troy Deeney has not given up hope of winning an England call-up but has also revealed Northern Ireland have contacted him over his eligibility.

The uncapped 27-year-old was left out of Roy Hodgson's squad for England's two upcoming friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands.

'I have to be careful about what I say, but I'm just going to do my job and hopefully Mr Hodgson will give me a knock and I'll be the first one there,' he told the Sky Sports show.

'I'd be the proudest man in the country if I did get the opportunity. I just have to keep doing my job and working away.'

Deeney turned down the opportunity to play Jamaica last year, but admitted that appearing for Northern Ireland at this summer's Euro 2016 tournament is a potential option, provided he is eligible.

And the forward confirmed to Soccer AM that while the Three Lions are his priority, he is waiting to hear if playing for Northern Ireland is a realistic possibility.
