I'm beginning to wonder whether it might be worth giving Marcello a go next season, just to see what happens. There's always January for selling him if things don't work out.
If, and its more than likely we shall be playing in a lower league, we can see MT true potential with promoted Brentford. I would be inclined to allow him to stay with the Bees on loan for at least 6 months. For me having watched our younger players many times including MT I would rate Dembele, & Woodrow much higher up in the pecking order for first team selection.
Kind of agree rosc. The thing about Trotta (and I know I've said this before) is that while his work rate might be in question, he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time to score. Arguably you could say the same about Dembele, although Personally I believe he is more natural, creative and skilful than Trotta. Woodrow (again I've said this before) unfortunately isn't a natural goal scorer. He makes up for that through endeavour and skill though.

With a big spending , large squad club it does not matter to much if a player or two go missing for a few weeks but to a club like us 12mil is a fortune. I would like to see a system where if a player is injured on international duty his country pays a sum. ie: player costs 10mil divide by number of games on season say 40 = £250,000 per game. The representative country pays by number of league games missed due to said injury, it will never happen but still a thought.
There is a system whereby if a player is injured on international duty, that national association pays his wages while he's off. Most (all?) FAs take out insurance to cover them for such an eventuality. It's based on wages rather than transfer fee. That's fair, otherwise a player like Giggs wouldn't have been covered at all, whereas the less gifted Andy Carroll would cost a fortune if he picked up an injury on international duty. Mind you, Giggs hardly ever played for Wales due to numerous phantom 'injuries', so perhaps he's not the best example I could have offered. I assume I'm allowed to comment on this one despite not watching all the international games where people get injured.
Good point about Giggs and his injuries. I was never sure if he didn't want to play for his country (which would be odd) or whether Fergie demanded he didn't as, for most of his international career, Wales were never seriously in the hunt for any qualification to any tournament.
Marcello scored twice in Italy U21s' warm up game: Coach Gigi Di Biagio saw improvements in the Italy Under-21 side after Brentford’s Marcello Trotta bagged a brace. Pat Roberts is currently with the England playing in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship. England have been drawn alongside Malta, Netherlands and Turkey in Group A and will kick-off the tournament when they face host nation Malta in the opening game tomorrow (Friday 9th May). In Group B the sides are Germany, Switzerland, Scotland and Portugal. The group stage matches will be played on 9, 12 and 15 May.
Pat Roberts was a star performer for England U17s as two wonder-goals and an assist from the Fulham youngster sealed a 3-0 victory over Malta. Long distance strikes in either half from the forward stole the show, but he also demonstrated his creative side as a mazy run led to him set up Adam Armstrong as the Young Lions got off to a winning start at the UEFA European Championship Finals. Pat Roberts had three assists as England U17s beat Turkey 4-1 earlier today: "Roberts looked to be coming to life, and it was the Fulham youngster who provided the spark the Young Lions needed to take the lead on 49 minutes. He picked up the ball from Armstrong near the touchline and tricked his way into the box before pulling the ball across the goal for Solanke, and the Chelsea striker teed himself up before squeezing it inside the post to grab his second. Roberts was the architect again 10 minutes later as England doubled their advantage with an unlikely strike from Kenny. The Everton youngster, who has only recently returned from a collar bone injury, was given the ball by Roberts and he fired in powerfully from just inside the right-hand side of the area. And things just got better for England as Cetin became busier and busier, and his save from Roberts fell straight into the path of Armstrong on 64 minutes, and he made no mistake as he coolly slotted home for the fourth from 10 yards." No surprise here: "Costa Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto has named a 26-man squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil, with three names to be cut before the competition. Costa Rica will face England, Italy and Uruguay in Group D, with their first match against the South Americans in Fortaleza on June 14."
