not necessarily but if it was,how do you think he will feel about Leicester wanted or not.Bad timing though, may want to prove a point now.
This may be true, but the reason Leeds would have turned him down is because Bates would never pay that much for any player.
True bates would never match the wage, you pay beckford. But to be honest wouldn't want him to.Aint that good as you know.
Haha, he says they turned him down cause they want to move forward so they sign Pugh and Delph instead.
I think this probably true - I also suspect that Beckford was made aware at the time etc- it would explain the rather awkward body language between Pearson and Beckford on several occasions. beckford is not a Pearson type of player - he struggles with ego and often ego and talent are symbiotic - Max Gradel for instance - I was a big fan - a player who can change a game but needs managing in the right way. Now Beckford has the ego - but not the same level of talent as a Gradel - his start has risen on the number of goals he has scored - and put the ball in front of him with a chance on goal and he is a good finisher. However, the other areas of his game have severe limitations - limitations which, for me, mean he will never be a first choice Premier striker - David Moyes soon came to that conclusion and it all seems rather obvious now that I've seen him for a prolonged period. Nigel wil try and move him on in the summer - whether that is possible on his wages is debateable - look at all current Prem sides plus the likely promotes - can you really see anyone signing him? I can't - which leaves the Championship ... don't really see any buyers there either to be honest.
Hopefully he can stay and score a few more next season, but wouldn't be fussed if we did lose him, would much rather have Nugent paired up with a striker that can assist him, you never know, maybe McLeish will sell us Heskey if they are relegated this season
Thought as much - is/was loved at Leeds so fair enough that he wanted to go back. Of course the main reason he didn't go wasn't for the reasons that Bates said - seriously Leeds fans, at the beginning of the season you all would have loved him to come back - but was because Leeds can't afford him. We bought him for £2M and he is on a wage rumoured to be around £20-30k.
And at full-time. And he kept doing small ones whenever we sang his song through the game. And he kept staring at us with a tear in his eye. JERMAINE BECKFORD SCORED A FUCKING GREAT GOAL IN THE SCUM SHITHOLE!
