I'll get shot down for this, but Nigel Adkins being the first manager to leave at 11-1 must be worth a punt?

The 18-1 to beat Man Citeh looks interesting. It's possible if Southampton get into them early that a few jaded superstars might have their minds on other things.

I'd definitely take 18/1 to beat City. Could be a nice little payday.

I know this will come across poorly but I just hope we don't get too badly pumped. Have our players ever come up against a unit with players of such a calibre ? Fonte against Aguero will be painful and much and all as I love Rickie he won't get a sniff against the best defender in the world at the moment. That being said I'm sure Adkins has some sort of plan. It's funny someone mentioned Lallana's diving in another thread because Rickie's penalties may be our only hope.

It's a win-win. I once bet on Barnsley beating Saints 1-0 at home and we won 2-0 and I was happier with the result than I would have been with the money had I won it.

Just because I think it's worth a punt doesn't mean I think it'll be easy as that. Sometimes, you just gotta go off a hunch.

I'm going to put a bit of money on Adkins to be the first manager to go.

I expect every man to predict Saints in the bottom three, and if we are in that area after the first few games as we can probably expect, his dog will too. No problem, I can't wait to be last on MotD and told by Lawro that we are gonna struggle. Anyway, his guy doesn't exactly tell us anything new, Saints are the new Norwich, Lambert = Holt, Lallana is good etc.

Well, rumours are beginning to appear about the working relationship between him and Cortese. However, primarily, he has never managed at this level before and we have a very difficult start. Cortese is not the most patient man, and he seems to be ambitious. If we have no points after 4 games (which is emminently possible) or only one or two by the end of September (also possible, look at the fixtures), Adkins could find himself under severe pressure. The main thing though is the price, for the reasons I've just said, I believe 11-1 is good value.

What are the odds on Pardew being first to go? He set the bar so high last season and a bad run of form could mean curtains for him.

Can't say I disagree; it's the one aspect of Cortese that worries me, because (barring an absolutely catastrophic first couple months) I think that Adkins has earned the chance to manage through Christmas at the least.

11-1 are great odds for Adkins leaving. I'd snap them up IF I was a betting man.

Cortese is ambitious, but he is also realistic as well and he can perfectly see that Nigel Adkins has been given a tough start to his debut Premier League season.

Cortese isn't the chairman of QPR mate...

If Adkins goes then we will go down.Simple as that.
I can't believe that people are willing to bet on Adkins getting sacked that's very sadistic. If that did happen then I'd lose a lot of interest in Southampton FC,just because Adkins is a very special person and manager,he is my favourite manager ever and I'd be absolutely gutted if he left the club :(

I'd be gutted as well. If I was in charge, Adkins would be safe for next season even if we lost every game 6-0. However, i'm not, Cortese is, and we know his past record. Most of us wouldn't have sacked Pardew. And everything coming out of the club suggests Cortese is expecting European football in the not too distant future. I'm not saying it's going to happen, i'm just saying that it's worth a tenner for a £110 pay out.
