It's because lambert can see when things are not working and makes changes that can and probably will effect the game.

    Yep, he isn't perfect.

But at least he can see and knows what to do when things are not working.

There's a lot of ifs and buts but it's 2-2 when villa looked dead and buried at half time.

Do you think we could come back from 2 down away from home?

Whatever people say about wes, until we have someone better than him, he's still the only person who has the intelligence to play a defence splitting pass in the final third. Our midfield looks so flat at the moment, no creativity when we get forward. I certainly believe in home games howson is good enough and should be given license from deeper to join in with the attacks so the argument against howson and wes seems invalid. Drop Johnson, Fer's strength positioning and ability on the ball is more than enough for him to play the holding position and distribute more effectively anyway.

Get wes on because although he may not have the same legs, no one else offers the options he does. A few clever passes and we'll all forget about him giving it away. What frustrates me more is someone like Johnson who had the worst passing accuracy of any outfield player in the premiership last year. Thats not the kind of stat you want.... Therefore the fact wes is attempting more intricate decisive passes him losing the ball less is more commendable.

Just a little reminder, less than one year ago wes had the 3rd best 'key passes per game' average after juan mata and eden hazard, this is what we're missing, even if he isn't the man he used to be.

It's times like these the legends bale us out and we haven't got holty anymore, Wes'll do it. I believe in him still.

Oh, come on, Robbie, this is a bit rich. Criticising Wes for lack of adaptability when you regularly support Hughton, who (whatever his qualities) has all the flexibility of an oil tanker.

With the improvement of Howson and the arrival of Fer, I think Wes will be used more as an impact sub in the future. His age is against him starting games and he also lacks the potential for scoring goals that both Howson and Fer have already shown. I still think he's still an important player for City though.

going back to the overall injury theme, this could really hit us in december, where we have a lot of fixtures. we might have to rely on youngsters like redmond and murphy
fingers massively crossed that pilkington and snoddy are back soon, along with ricky.

I wondered how long before we got comments on PL's subs last night - didn't take long did it???? I see you choose not to comment on how rubbish the Villa defence was in the first half!! <doh>

I think you have to give immense credit to Shane Long for the early two goal lead. I can't think of many defences that would have been able to stop certainly the opening goal. Majestic first touch <ok>

I don't agree at all that Chris Hughton is inflexible. A lot of people on here simply don't recognise/notice when he alters things. These people are far more rigid in their interpretation of what is taking place on the pitch than Chris Hughton is (and they clearly don't even bother to listen to Chris Hughton's interviews in which he talks about what he did and why). An example of what I'm talking about is the criticism of his replacing Pilkington on Saturday with Elmander rather than Murphy, which drew the comment from someone that Elmander isn't a winger. Furthermore, when Hughton does stick to his guns, he is often vindicated, as he was last season when he kept to the strategy he decided very early on was most likely to preserve our PL status and which saw us finish 11th in the league.

If people are going to criticise the manager (not to mention attempt to engineer his sacking), they should at least try to do so from a position of knowledge and understanding, not ignorance and incomprehension. And please don't anybody come on with the old chestnut about being entitled to their opinion. These people just prove my point, since they clearly can't distinguish between "Everyone is entitled to their opinion" and "Each person's opinion is as good as anyone else's". We are all free to form our own opinions (and even express them on here as long as they fall within the law and the forum rules); but it does not take a great brain to recognise that that does not mean that one opinion is as good, or reasonable, or well-founded, or justified etc. as another.

Situations in which one person's opinion is truly as good as anyone else's are far less common than people think, and most of the questions which come under discussion here do NOT fall into that category. <ok>

I am not prejudiced against CH I just have no faith in the timing of the substitutions he makes and the rigid formation that the teams plays with, especially away from home. There is a difference in the above and it is the result of the game.

As for the Hull game, did CH change the formation to get something from the game after bringing the sub on? No. It was the same system with different personnel. Completley different to Villa last night.

PL made 3 attacking subsitutions, changed his formation and he got something from the game. It's similar to what Mourinho did to us at home when we played Chelski.

Comparing to what we did at Hull is just pure folly and makes no sense whatsoever. Think before you post.

Let me ask you one question that no one has answered yet. Under CH if we went 2 down away from home in the first half, do you think we would recover to 2-2?

<laugh> It's the new form of validating one's posts Rob -- repeat them on different threads. It's like buying several copies of the same newspaper to confirm that a report is true ......... <ok>

Yes, I like to make myself a well rounded individual by buying the Mail 6, 7 or even 8 times a day and it certainly makes me an unparalled fair minded authority on all things.

Did I mention your fathers a bit of a git!

    Bah!
