England v France was quite similar to Italy v Spain: 2 giants of the football world sizing each other up in case they should meet in the latter stages. The result unimportant hence the lack of real effort.
We're better than I thought, and as I suspected France were not capable of living up to their "world beaters" tag. Anyone who watched their qualification games would have known they weren't all they were being talked up to be. They got ran ragged by Dzecko against Bosnia and H. We passed the ball a lot better than I thought we would, but we looked paggered by 60mins again. I honestly thought Scott Parker was going to collapse. He started taking little babysteps as if unsure if his legs worked anymore. Good game, both teams well drilled. I doubt either will get past the quarters, indeed I could still see one of them failing to qualify as Ukraine are gonna be bang up for it.
