Extreme boredom has led me to thinking about what the greatest individual performances I've ever seen are so i thought I'd ask on here and get a bit of debate going. Off the top of my head i came up with: Gerrard- 2006 FA Cup final Messi- 4 goals vs Arsenal Zidane- 2006 World Cup in general Your opinions?
1st - Ronaldinho 2005 - 2 goals against Real Madrid... He even recieved a standing ovation from Madrid fans after 2nd goal 2nd - Gerrard v West Ham FA Cup Final
Andrea Dossena in our 4-1 win against Man Yoo.He scored having come on as a sub...and made 73,000 United fans disappear in seconds. Denis Law for his backheel for Man City against Man United in 1974.Shaun Goater also deserves a mention.
Gerrard v West Ham FA Cup Final for me he just kept dragging us back into it and that goal was amazing.
Surely someone should mention Jerzy Dudek in Istanbul in 2005 - THAT save and the penalties....? GKRK
Trying to go with ones not already named... As much as you'll hate me for this (and I hate myself for it,) Arshavin 4 goals against us... Landon Donavon against... Algeria? Last minute goal, after a ****e ref job through the whole game to almost keep us from advancing, that break to score in the dying minutes of the game... Given's last three seasons for Newcastle (Kept them from relegation almost single-handedly) Suarez against Man U...
Also, allow me to toot my own horn here... Last Sunday, 8 players showed up, and I was the center holding mid. 4 defenders, 3 mids, and a goalie. Half an hour of this with 110 degree heat. They didn't score. I won us a corner in that time, too. We got our 11, we got scored on a few times, but pulled one back late in the half. Halftime 3-1. Second half, I score one from half field on a free kick, and another weak footed, slotted in from outside the 18. I sub off (as I had played 75 minutes in 110 degree weather, 90% humidity), they score two and win 5-3. Was disappointed, but felt good about my play to say the least...
