I am completely sure that Rodgers did not have full control of our signings. In fact I do not think he had much power at all. I think he said what players he wanted, but was then made to let some one (Iam Ayre) do the work. He certainly didn't seem to have control of how the transfer budget was divided. I feel our failier to sign a striker has dented morale through out the club. The fans, the manager and the players. I think Rodgers has been let down. I think we have two options. Give Rodgers full control where he picks the player, calls the clubs, talks to the players etc. Or we get some one experienced with a high profile to do it, but Rodgers has to be consulted constantly, if not in the room. Ian Ayre is some one who is experience with increasing revenue and saving money. Money is all he is ever going to see when he looks at a possible signing or an offer for one of our players.
Interesting: Apparently there is a clause in Carrolls loan deal that could have him returned in January if we request it. Great! So we already know now what FSG's idea will be to fill our striker need. Mmmmm... Spend actual money or bring back player we own...let me see...
We would have a director of football if Rodgers hadnt insisted on full control....Rodgers has FULL CONTROL
If Rodgers has full control why did he leave Melwood after Fridays training and leave Ayre to it? Rodgers has control of picking players, but he is not getting to be the one trying to sign them. Rodgers also has to stick to FSG's rules. If he wants a 29 year old they say no. That is not freedom.
Really? Apparently he wasn't even clear whether his kitty had to include wages or not. Apparently he was vetoed by phone call. That sounds like he has as much control as I do.....
Whether he has full control or not....Something has gone badly wrong! Was so optimistic for the direction of our club and it just looks like we havethe full cast of the muppets integrated in our setup
I do think the decision has been made that football is secondary to self sufficiency in the business. Whether that allows for success later on the football side remains to be seen. Isn't going to pretty to watch while they do all their sums and count their gold coins.....
I think they just intend to maximise the marketing revenue of the club and then sell it....Think we should have another T-shirt campaign.....This time a la Ballotelli.....'Why always Us?'
the buck stopped with kenny so it must stop with rodgers too.. we have been left with no options up front and that has to be the managers fault. you can't let carroll go because you "think" someone is coming in, thats just pathetic. if there was no one in first then andy should have stayed!
I dont think Rodgers did let Carroll go. I reckon it was more like: Ayre: Oh Brendan better let you know, Andy Carroll is going to West Ham. Rodgers: What! you nut headed idiot, I need more players not less!!! Ayre: Oh dont worry, some one else is lined up. This is a great financial deal here to!!
Rodgers wouldn't have said what he said vis a vis Carroll leaving and bringing in a replacement if he didn't think Ayre was about to get him replacements.
Dont believe that for a second....I suppose it was Ayre who left Carroll out of the squad constantly aswell? Its clear that brendan didnt want Andy. Would you leave your job before having another contract signed...Of course not, Andy should not have been allowed to leave until another player had signed paperwork.
I don't think Rodgers needs defending. The team is clearly adapting slowly to his philosophy and all the signings he's made have been good (borini will settle). FSG are at fault for being cheap ****s as well as comoli for pissing away 80 million +. Rodgers would have spent an extra 20/30 mil very well IMHO. I don't think FSG realise how important it is to get back into the CL ASAP.
Buck stops with whoever makes the decisions but unfortunately we don't have a clue who that actually is. People seem to be guessing based on whether they like or dislike BR or like or dislike FSG. It's why the club needs to clarify. So far all we have been told directly has come from the manager and that is: He thought it would be crazy to let Carroll go without a replacement. He believed he had two options as replacements that were being pursued. He didn't get replacements & Carroll went. Then today: @philmcnulty: Brendan Rodgers asked would he have let Carroll go if he knew Liverpool would not sign anyone: "No." Was he confident he would: "Very." (I got this off EOTK as McNulty has blocked me lol) That all sounds like BR was not in control of events. Haven't heard anything else from club to refute that.
In fairness Carroll was injured. West Ham played him. No surprise, he came off holding his leg with a thigh strain (wasn't it?). Rodgers said before the Hearts match that he had a strain. MostarLFC ‏@MostarLFC BR "We all know we needed reinforcements & players needed help but the window is shut, we can't do anything about it now."
We just need to give the manager time, gutted about todays performance but we have to look ahead. I'm not going to lose faith in something after a few games.
Agree. I thought we would reach the Norwich game with 3/4 points. We can still get that. I like the way we play. I'm just massively pissed at the lack of fire power, the one thing that needed improvement.
One good typical Shelvey tackle on RVP & we will get 3 points from the United game! Put Sterling on the right and watch Evra cry like a little girl.
