Laugh at our manager who's spent 8 of the last 10 years managing in the Premier League, whereas yours has spent around 2 out of the last 30 years managing in the Premier League. I know who I'd rather have, a multi-Premier League, FA Cup, league cup and European Cup winner or a thick gobshite who's career highlight was playing for Scunthorpe.
You could say the same about Roy Keane and Mourinho, you dolt. Playing career means **** all for how a manager turns out. Here, read this article if you think he was anything like a decent manager in all those Premiership years. His achievements: two promotions. Warnock has a better win rate, and has had seven. Only managed twice as many games as Bruce as well, so it's hardly like the honours records are skewed due to experience, even if you double Bruce's pitiful haul. Of the two Mrs Doubtfire lookalikes, our Neil is head and shoulders the best manager. Whereas the picture being painted of the scum gargoyle managing you lot... well, it's not a great one.
Perhaps not, but managerial career does. Higher win percentage ever considered that could be because of the levels at which they've managed at. What is Warnocks win percentage in the Premier League?
Don't know about you Super, but I'm honoured that these gentlemen have chosen our board to air their differences - almost like being accepted as one of the club...
Seems that there are a load of rumours that we have no money etc etc. Also a lot of scaremongering from our own fans (shock horror) that the world is going to end now that PV has left. Those same fans forget that PV was the guy who bought them in to the club. If he is the CAFC martyr then everything should be fine, right? From what I understand, all these rumours are BS. There is money, but certain sections have allowed themselves to believe we would have £3-5 million to spend. This isn't the case and I believe Slater has been transparent about this. Once again we seem intent on ruining the good feeling at the club by spreading a whole bunch of nonsense (I am in no way referencing to your original post, AH. More at what I was told last night and subsequently read this morning). It's time to remember that we bought this squad with the intention of them being good enough for the Championship -which by winning the league with 101 suggests we were far too good for League One. We are obviously working hard to sign players - Cawley confirmed last week that we were trying for Aluko but described it as a ''legal minefield''. We appear to be showing sensible ambition, and considering how bad the club became under the old board I am personally reassured by this approach.
but we've just been gazzumpted by Peterborough for a right back! PETERBOROUGH! OK their owner has some large...ish pockets but PETERBOROUGH! The player also wanted to come to us so we would just need to match their offer! Is it the same Lawrie Wilson who came through our youth set-up? What was I saying last night..... I was a bit drunk
Wilson was going to be back up here - everyone knew that. At Peterborough he has guarantee's that he will be a regular. So when you say we have been ''gazumped'' I'd guess it's more that we have a value in mind for a back up right back (100k) and P'boro have a different value to someone who will be deemed their first choice (250k). But let's be honest, whatever way this move went our fans would put a negative spin on it. Missing out means we obviously have no money, signing him means Chris Solly is obviously leaving. Wheres the feel good factor from 6 (yes SIX) weeks ago?
Apparently so. We just have to remain patient, we were (I thought) under no illusions that it wasn't going to be like last summer. We haven't even hit July 1st yet, which is when players are out of contract and can sign for other teams. Thats when the transfer market will come to life.
Nothing unfortunately. Not hearing any rumours, sometimes I get whispers of things. But talking to the Chairman towards the end of the season I'm not expecting many transfers as already said. Wish we could go back 12 months lol
I remember Slaters interview on Charlton live last season where he said that the squad was put together last season with the intention of it being Champs quality - and that there will be few,if any, signings should we achieve Promotion (which we hadnt at the time).
He has consistently been transparent in his plans in terms of recruitment. I don't see where stories of the club having no money, Varney leaving because of broken promises etc has come from. Some fans seriously seem intent on bringing this club down. I just don't understand it.
Those who are concerned about Peter Varney leaving/the owners wanting out/us having no money... a) Peter Varney led the consortium who took over the Christmas before last. b) When Peter Varney left, a statement was posted thanking him for his contributions and explaining why he's left. Compare that to Jeff Vetere's departure... c) Richard Murray supposedly rejected a number of takeover offers because they couldn't prove they had the funds. He wouldn't have accepted the takeover if they had none either. d) We've been chasing the likes of Sone Aluko (leading player for Rangers), Keith Andrews (Premier League standard midfielder), Jason Shackell (Premier League standard defender) etc. If we had no money and no ambition, we wouldn't be in for these.
