It's a long time until 4pm. Im already going bonkers with nerves/ anticipation/fear etc. The kitchen commander wants me out of the house already as she says my nervous disposition is driving everybody else in the house mad and its only 9.30.

The flip side of this is that she wants me out of the house when the match is on. She says the kids might not understand my behaviour between 4 & 6. So it's down the pub for me where I can embarrass myself in front of strangers instead of the kids. F••k, this is going to be a long day.

TBH nuts my expectations from this game are very low. If we concede an early goal as usual I can see us falling apart

My worry is that TF will blindly maintain that Hughes is the right man until its too late

Sod Hughes, we need the players to step up today and turn over the toffees

Dont honestly expect much from this game but if the players decide they fancy turning up...then anything could happen...

Take heart, Norwich beat the Arses yesterday, no-one saw that coming. Everton can be patchy away and if we get a decent start who knows?...

I think we may well get a result today.
Not necessarily a win but at least a point and a good performance.

Crushing victory this afternoon, Everton won't know what hit them. :)

    Supremely confident for once.

Think that's why I am so nervous. I'm an optimist by nature. I fully expect us to win today. I expect our players to put in a savage performance today. I expect our players to show pride in their own performances, pride in our jersey and take some pressure off MH. Our manager has taken a lot if criticism on here and rightly so but it is our players who cross the line and play the games. Many of our players have been way below par and not earned their huge pay packets. I know MH has not helped himself with his tactics and team selections but our players have also under performed. I expect a response today. Something to get our season going. That's why I am on a knife edge. Today is just massive for us.

Don't worry, Nuts. If you think about it it's a win win situation today: we win and move up the table or we lose and MH moves towards the exit door. A draw wouldn't be ideal, granted.

Nervous? Yes, but also optimistic. Its never been easy being an R has it, but adversity is what we thrive on isnt it!!!

We just need the defence to turn up and perform and the crowd to roar us on. If we get that we'll win.

Ferdinand and Bosingwa, and possibly Traore, have had time to get match fit over the break. We should have a defence again. Have a feeling we'll see a better performance from the boys today

Amen to that. I despair of the Rs shipping early (and soft) goals.

    vs Swansea (8 mins)
    vs Norwich (11 mins)
    vs Man. City (16 mins)
    vs West Ham (3 mins)
    vs West Brom (5 mins)

The absolute most important aspect today is that we score the first goal. That means that the players are on the ball from the first second. The only game that we have taken the lead this season was against Spuds, and although we lost, it was the best performance so far. I am confident.

Good observation. So five times of seven we have conceded an early and soft goal. No wonder we are where we are. However im positive that we win today as long we dont make comic mistakes. 1-0 to us with a late goal from someone who hasn't score yet this season. Sadly i can't see this match live from television cos im working till 6pm. Well, im gonna watch it afterwards from my IPTV. C'mon Urrrr'rrrssssssss.......!!!!!

My head says we won't win because MH has f**ked up the season to date but my heart says we should win. We play better against the better teams and Everton are good without being great. Most of our players are back, we've had a good break, we're at home, everyone expects us to lose etc.

I understand what you're saying Goldie, but you only really get match fit by playing MATCHES. They will be fitter with regards to their respective injuries though.
I must say, I'm really looking forward to today. I've got a lot going on before the game, so our usual pre-match rituals will be out the window. May only get there a few minutes before KO.
It actually feels a bit like the last few home games of last season felt. Desperate for a win, but more in hope than expectation. The predicament we find ourselves in could well get the crowd right up for it, so with a sell out, it could be rocking!! Although, if we go and concede early again, that will put the kybosh on that!!
    Come on U Rsssssssssssssssss!!!!

Crowd is crucial today. Leaving shortly and can't wait. The biggest test will be if we do concede early and how the crowd react. Booing and jeering wont help, we need full on support in a game played over 90mins! Come on rrrr's!!!

Yeh, Hope there is a full house with really loud and constant support for the R's that will help.

Norwich result depressed rather than encouraging me, as it means only a big win will get us out of the bottom 3 today. I am scared we'll see Park and SWP again and will get hammered. Hope Hughes leaves them out, and win 4-0! Come on URRRRRRR's.

The best possible outcome would be for a few of our players to get on the score sheet, especially players that have struggled to do so lately. Goals from Mackie, SWP, Hoilett or Park Ji Sung would be a good boost. Can't see it happening, though. But hopefully one or two of them will get on the score sheet.
