We played really well in the first half - pass and move a la Gus with Catts and KI running the middle of the field. The second half was painful to watch. I know the old cliche about how it's harder to play against 10 men but it's not. Was it just a confidence thing or was there something wrong tactically? I've no idea personally - any suggestions welcome.
As well as hard graft, gritty defending, for once we hat a load of luck, the only thing that concerns me is that we had a couple of chances to finish the game off, but, we didn't, having said that, it was a fantastic win at Everton!
We're bottom without an away win all season and they hadn't lost a home game all year, that's why I imagine
We need two strikers in Jan, Altidor won't do it for us, and Fletch is not the same player this season. Get gyan back off loan first and what about Rodregez the Soton striker ?, Lukaku would be fantastic, Wellbeck ?. But it was like the Alamo today and I expected it, but we need to get players on who can hold the ball when we are winning.
There just no ****ing pleasing some. Maybe because we we're playing a classy side on their own patch where they've been unbeaten all season so even against 10 men they would still be stiff competition for anyone. Notice you didn't pick up on how well we were organised considering the unfamiliar back four.
Gyan was sold not loaned after 1st period of loan and not an option. Plus he isn't the answer IMO anyway. Today was reward for the missed opportunities at Hull, Palace and Stoke where we played better for no points. We lost our way in the 2nd half against a team unbeaten at home this calendar year and who were chasing a top 5 place. Manonne was magnificent today and saved our blushes but my God, an away win for us of any kind is pure gold. I'll take it gladly and thank the stars we didn't lose otherwise with Fulham and Palace both winning we'd have looked a sorry mess. Cardiff and Villa to come and 4 points from them may well see us smelling the sweet smell of 4th or 5th bottom by the second day of 2014. More to the point, we'd have the 17 point minimum I asked for when Gus was appointed. 17 points and a few new faces and I believe safety can be achieved. Well done Gus, the team and most of all those fantastic away fans who made the trip.
Gyan's gone mate and you need to be realistic about the both the quality of striker out there in the January sales and the willingness of any quality player willing to sign up to a bottom 3 team. Unless that is, we can add a few more wins, start climbing and prove we've got what it takes to stay in the PL.
Only got to watch the second half here, finding out we were on super sports 6 here. Have to say it was all Everton second half but still the hoodoo is well and truly............. Onwards and Upwards.
Would Duncan Watmore do the job or do you think its a bit early for him yet? and for the second one possibly that Swan Vesta lad they reckon he's a good striker
I don't think we can rely on surviving in PL on a guy who's last team played non-league level footy. We've been hearing good things about the lad but it's far too early for him and we'd look ****ing stupid if we gambled on him and lost!
