Greetings fellow posters. Finally took the plunge and signed up on here. Always been a keen reader. I recognise a lot of names from the original 606 site. It's a shame most people decided to post on here as I prefer the JA606 layout ( a lot like the original)

With regard to Saints I'm slightly worried about our away form. However I have reason to be optimistic. We are still creating chances away from home and if we cut out the silly errors at the back I'm sure we'll get back to winning ways. Fonte has made mistakes in the past few weeks for sure...but I'm not worried as form is temporary, class is permanent. Once he sorts out his decision making he'll be back to his best in no time! (Does anyone else get pissed off when all the tv commentators pronounce his name as 'Font' without the 'e'?? maybe they're right but everyone to do with the club pronounces the 'e'!!)

    Welcome to site.

We've had the whole Font-Fonte debate many times. Font it would appear is the correct way to pronounce it, and I notice that TV commentators are using this more and more this season (previously I think only ITV used it, when commentating on our FA Cup games). So I find it hard to be annoyed at them when they do it. However I still call him Fonte.

Welcome... I would not worry too much about away form yet, we have only lost 2 still and have no right to expect to take 3 points home from Reading. I think the "real" pronunciation of Fonte is Font but it doesn't really fit with the Human League song.

Thanks for the welcomes. Well yes I'll think i'll stick with the Fonte pronounciation even if it is wrong. Sometimes names just stick even if technically they are wrong. To be honest I think we all should be over the moon that we are 3 points clear with the number of good teams we have played recently. After Boro games do look quite winnable so November will test our metal as we should be picking up points regularly!

    Welcome!

I too am a bit worried about our away form, but as long as we keep winning at home and getting those 1-pointers on the road then we will be just fine. I'd like to see wins both home and away, though, before I begin to think we're Prem material.

Are we totally sure that's the correct pronunciation? Commentators have been butchering Kuyt's name for years.

He was asked this recently at some event. He replied the true version was Font. However it didn't bother him which way you pronounced it.....Either was OK with him!

    Welcome mate!
I go to more away games than home games as I live up in the east midlands so I notice away form at close range. I feel we are doing OK at the moment but need to make sure we win the bottom teams and not loose to our main competitors. With our home form, that should see us in the Prem come next year
My main issue is how many chances we need to create in order to score away from home - we need to be far more clinical

Don't worry, we suffer from that at home too.

    "Fontee, fontay,
    Just plain Font?
    (In French Wayne Bridge is
    Known as Pont).

    In Spanish he'd be
    Known as FON-tay,
    The frogs they say
    José, enchanté!

    Regardless how
    His name pronounces,
    At corners he comes up
    And pounces.

    Next time he scores,
    That demon Fonte,
    Take off your kit,
    Do the Full Monty!"

Haha very good Terry! Can't really look too much into the defeat last night as it was essentially a reserve team. By the sounds of it we as a team played pretty well but just lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. All will be forgotten with 3 points against Boro! COYR
