why all clubs leave doing these deals till the last minute ( a window lasting weeks and its not enough time)- Cleverly deal not going through at Everton, Falcao still negotiating - apart from the tv entertainment value - there's no logic to it - anyone agree?
I guess it's mainly teams playing chicken with eachother over fees etc. As the clock ticks down teams get more desperate to buy (or sell as the case may be) and the price goes up and up (or down and down). And some deals hinging on others etc.
Had we signed Borini two months ago as expected we'd have paid £810,000 a week in wages had his agent had his way.
So I (ssn) just learn't you can apply for an extension if the deal hasn't crossed the line by 11pm - bloody farcical I reckon
Exceptional circumstances (ie if your players plane is late, car is in traffic, you're name is man united)
Remember this load of ****e. And Oatway insists Poyet will be determined to get as much work done as possible before taking up his World Cup punditry duties in Brazil. “Gus is black and white with the way he conducts himself in pre-season – he always likes to get the majority of his players in early, so he can conduct and manage them,” he said. “He likes to get everything in place within that five or six week period over the summer so that he can get on with organising things for when the group comes back. “It would be nice to hopefully get all the players he wants in, but I know he will want to get as many as he can in place. “What is really, really important to us is having a good pre-season – having the players you want around club early on so you can educate them in the way you want to play.”
Most clubs don't leave these deals until the last minute. Most of the deals are done well in advance but aren't finalised until the last day. What really pisses me off(as Sanford mentioned earlier) is why clubs can get an extension to the window. Makes a complete mockery of the transfer window closure IMO. Ben Arfa to Hull - he got stuck in traffic so they got an extension - What traffic is there between the north east and Hull at 9 on a monday night? Was the A1 blocked? One of the lads I work with travelled to London at 4pm last night and arrived before 9. I understand a flight being delayed but using traffic as an excuse is crazy.
