....who would you have as captain? Bassong would be high on the list for me. You would expect him to start most games where as we could see Rusty and Whitiker battle out for a spot in the first team
Russell Martin for club captain. John Ruddy on the field if RM isn't playing. My problem is, if Holt goes, where can I buy my favourite pasta .................... (sorry)
Yeah would have to be Russ as club captain for me too. But I this Seb would be a good on field choice if russ doesn't play though.
I would have to say Martin as well. In his interviews he is very well spoken and calm and a great profession.
Is that the ship that once again finished mid table? Sinking? The only thing sinking is mikey's mum's will to live after her prepubescent gem of a son has been stupid in public again ( oh, should I add FACT here?)
I would go for Snoddy for skipper he has a real passion and will to win, I think he could be the most inspirational. Still I'm hoping that Holty will still be here. Bah!
Holt now gone - I don't think we are surprised. This Dame N'Doye at £6m seems overpriced for a journeyman. Has played for several clubs and best scoring rate was in Danish league a few seasons ago. Seems like a risk IMO
I think the Dame N'Doye rumour is complete b***** What I will say is we now do have extra funds in fee's and wages to up the offer to maybe Toivonen or the fee demands from Celtic for Hooper. I think these are the 2 players Hughton wants in, but I still struggle to see us signing them!
I think what we need now is someone with preferably PL experience or at worst Hooper with SPL and championship experience, we need someone who knows the football in the PL as it will doubtless take an adjustment period for wolfie to the pace and style. Not sure who though?
What about chancing our arm and going for Fletcher from Sunderland. He might be desperate to get away from DiCanio's management regime. Has loads of Premiership experience and proved he can score at this level. Very physical and great in the air.
We're not short of captain material in our team that's for sure. Good luck Grant Holt. You've been brilliant in yellow!
Sad to see him go (should this all work out), but as a club we've got to where we are on the back of extremely shrewd management at board level, and if McNally is backing this deal (ie Holt isn't forcing it on us), then I support him in it. We're working on a very tight budget, and if the supposed £3m fee is accurate, signing Hooper would effectively only be costing us £1-2m (QPR bid £4m apparently), with wages already covered. It wouldn't then surprise me to see another striker (probably a name nobody's mentioned) come in too, to give us 4 solid strikers, and hopefully Toivonen and Morris or Loza to call upon if we're desperately short. Hopefully it's not going to be a mistake, there is a concern that we'll start next season with no strikers who've scored in the PL, but we'll see. Hopefully Holt's situation isn't like Huckerby's, and we end up ruing letting him go early. As to captain, I'd perhaps say Snodgrass might be a little too hot-headed at times (but certainly doesn't lack passion!), so Martin, Bassong or Howson for me. I'd rather not have a keeper as a captain, Ruddy can marshal his troops defensively perfectly fine, I'd rather the captain was an outfield player.
