Saw some comments on Twitter tonight saying this was our best team today, not performance but team. Whilst the performance was fantastic I still feel that there are players at the club that are better than what is on the field and cant wait to see what Johnson does with the likes of Onien and Gooch. So if all players are fit who realistically do you think will end up in Johnsons best 11? Here is mine fwiw
what about Embleton and leads holding his passing is far superior and his shots on goal a better average
I'd put Sanderson in for O'Nien and O'Nien for Power, make Grant captain. Maybe Flanagan for Willis, didn't rate Flanagan at all last season but he's been pretty good and Willis has been patchy. Shame to leave out Gooch but McGeady has been very sharp, not what I expected, and you get five subs so plenty of chances for him to have an impact.
Whilst I would like to see him play, Atm I don't see Embleton starting ahead of them just yet. He is either not fancied, seen more of an impact player, or not fit enough just yet.
Flanagan has started really well i have to say but Willis is also one of the divisions best players on his day. Again I ended up putting ONien out on the right because I dont see that middle 3 changing much though I agree it would probably be for power if he did
Apparently Diamond can play behind the striker, drop Power, put Diamond behind the striker and get Gooch out wide. For when we have 10 defenders in front of us
Also there are other players not mentioned on here for example rhe new centre half we signed Xhemajli, Dan Neil think both of those will be important going forward
I can see Gooch really thriving under Johnson and Johnson himself said of all the players he had heard alot about Gooch and couldn't wait to work with him
All decent looking teams and the fact everybody has tweaked things shows the options we have. Can Leds play 2 games a week? On top of this we may also get a couple of newbies in January. It could finally be a nice time to be supporting the lads again.
A front four of Wyke up top, McGeady behind him in the middle and Gooch and Diamond out wide would be sexy if we could accommodate that.
The question about Gooch is where do you play him. I do not think he is a winger like Diamond and Mcgeady. He does however go on mazy runs and score the odd goal. If we played 4 4 2, not 4 3 3 like yesterday he could play alongside Wyke
Even better, if we can get Gooch, McGeady and Diamond into the side behind a decent striker, the permutations and movement could be amazing, McGuire also and Embleton to come in
