True, just don't see Wigan as favorites for relegation. So much for the genius of Martinez. Where are all the Swans tonight anyways.

I don't share the same concern as red or DDDD just yet. As for next season I have already predicted 7th. Think the net spend wasted last season was a missed chance and has had a knocked on effect to this summer, like we have taken a step back.

Can't see how we're TEN TIMES more likely to win the league than Newcastle after last season.

  5. Yep, I think FSG are being reserved because of last summer. They gave Kenny/Comolli the money straight away but got their fingers burnt. This time they seem to have decided to see how Rodgers does first, I reckon if he does well enough this season then he will get money to spend next summer, this would also explain why FSG have changed their expectations regarding fourth too <ok>

  6. Call me crazy, but I'm pretty certain 25 only goes into 150 six times...<whistle>

I have no idea where we will finish, I always make predictions with my rose tinted glasses, and believe this year will be our year.

Realistically though, to finish ahead of any of City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs ain't gunna be easy.

So on that basis I will say sixth, but would not be shocked if we finish third or fourth.

Everton? It should be easy based on the abilty of the squad. We dramatically under performed last year.

  13. They also under-performed. We should be able to finish above them, just saying it won't be "easy" <ok>

We will just have to see. Can Rodgers get the best from an under achieving squad, or will it take time for the players to adjust to the new style of play.

All I will predict with any confidence is that we will finish higher than last season's 8th.

Losing Agger for the right price, is the 25-30m bracket would not be disastrous, as long as the replacement is good and not some lad who Rodgers had on loan at Watford. My only concern is that we'd struggle to convince someone class to come to us. That would leave us looking for another Hyppia, and I don't think our scouting network would pull that off.

As for this season, I reckon we will do no better than sixth as I still don't think we've addressed the need for an out and out goalscorer.

Agger moves forward after passing to Lucas and is ready to recieve the ball again. This allows our midfielders to get forward. If we dont have that kind of player we never look like creating anything...

An Agger type player is essential to us..We cannot sell him now, We have to work over at least a season to integrate a similar player before we can contemplate letting him go, or we will make no strides forwards, we will draw games the confidence will drop and then we will start to lose games...

We need to keep Agger....IMO anyway

Yea, well if he does go, it will be one hell of a statement of a lack of ambition. Should be building, not selling the best players.

Especially for around the £20M mark, if they offer silly money £30M plus for a 27 year old with a track-record for injuries, then maybe? Still think we should just tell them to do one, and offer him a good contract.
