Sarcasm can be the lowest form of wit yknow ;) I would love us to be direct rivals to City but selling our best to them is not going to help our cause is it. Think how you would have felt if we had considered selling Gerrard a few years back to Chelsea, or even Utd

Ian Ayre is completing transfers at the mo sounds like FSG really know what they are doin

Our transfer targets = Swansea City FC

Our scouting and transfer department are on gardening leave throughout the entire transfer window, after we got them off Citeh, well we need them NOW!!!!!!!!!

We have offloaded Aurelio,Aqua,Kuyt,Maxi and probably Bellamy and only brought 1 in

TBH at the mo, we are an absolute mess

Guessing you dont mean me for asking for FSG out cause I think that is the last thing we need but I ccan understand a fellow suppoters frustration, as for discussing something that has not happened yet, we regulary do that on these boards, but you are sounding a tad frustration, this is what happens when there is no football to discuss, so you can see how papers end up making up stories cant you, which in turn gets us talking tosh ;)

What is with the negativity? Have you seen our squad lately? We are more than a match for Spurs and Arsenal, and at times last year we hammered the top teams. What let us down was our inconsistency against the lower teams. Don't listen to the papers who would have you believe we played terribly all season because the fact is we didn't.

If Agger goes then I have faith in Rodgers bringing in a capable replacement. Agger is fantastic, but such a liability that I wouldn't be depressed if he did leave.

Seriously just look at the players we've got and tell me that they aren't good enough to at least compete for 4th place:

Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger(?), Enrique (from first half of season), Lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey (he will grow this season, I'm sure of it), Suarez, Carroll

That is an extremely strong core and definitely enough to challenge for 4th. Especially if we add Allen and Ramirez to it.

I might report this board to suicide watch, seriously you guys are so negative.

Agree to a point but where he goes is almost as important as who we Replace him with.

We shall see, I love the speculation about who we are linked with but don't really pay attention to who we might lose until it is pretty much done and dusted. Bellamy is one where some are saying no we should keep him but he couldn't play 2 games in a row. He would come in, do phenomenal for us, and then be out for 2 weeks. If it frees up space for Affellay or soemone like that, then I am all for it. I just want it to be quality we bring in and what we need.

  7. Of course it could. It won't help us catch up with Man City immediately but if we somehow got £30m for Agger, we could buy a replacement AND a quality player for elsewhere in the team. Fair enough, we won't get an individual as good as Agger but it is about the team, it is about building partnerships on the pitch too and if Agger can only play twenty games a year, we need to form two working partnerships for our defence. It is about taking one step at a time and if that means sacrificing a player for the good of the club then so be it.

I see Man City differently to Chelsea and Man Utd but get what you mean, I certainly didn't like seeing Torres join Chelsea and we ripped them off big time <ok>

City will finish above us with or without Agger so it doesn't really matter. Not like they're United, Everton, or Chelsea - clubs we shouldn't sell to under any normal circumstance.

I'd like to see Agger partner Pique at Barca though, if he has to go anywhere.

  10. Obviously, as I have said above, I don't want to see Agger leave, but I'd love to see what he could do in the Real Madrid or Barcelona sides. I reckon he would be outstanding for Man City too but clearly a preference for him to go abroad if he leaves <ok>

I'm not being negative, I am being realistic. I am not going to be calling for Brendan's head on a plate come Christmas, if we are in 17th.

Yes I have seen us, we can't hold on to possession to save our lives, and if the other team come out the blocks, we are totally lost. Personally I would let Agger go, and give Coates a real go, as I think he can be just as good, given a run. Same way I would make Sterling and Shelvey first team regulars this year, nothing like on the job training. Kenny didn't do that, because he felt it was unfair to bring kids in, while the team was doing so badly, which I understand, but don't agree with. The kids are hungry, and willing. Flanno failed last year, but I think he is stronger because of it, and should be given another go. There is no point protecting the kids, when all they want to do is go out there and have a go, and if everyone could set their expectations to zero, they will be under no pressure, and may come out and surprise us all.

It would be nice to have a Roman or a rich middle Easterner throwing money at us... but it isn't reasonable to expect FSG will.

They did more than Hicky and razor boy ever did when they gave funds to Kenny... that breaking in period is over... we can't expect limitless funds indefinately.

Losing Agger would be a blow...no doubt... but not the end of the world. I think 4th is possible but certainly no guarantee.

To me long term sustainability for the club is more important than blowing a load and being crippled with debt again.

You think you being realistic by predicting us to be "lucky" to finish in the top half? Last year we played some awesome football at times, best I've seen in a long time and the only thing missing was sticking the ball in the net. Our friendlies so far we've been on par with the teams we've played and this with only 2 or 3 first team players in the squad.

Our signings from last year have had a season to gel and the likes of Downing, Henderson, Enrique will all be better this season now they are used to playing with other players. Add to that Lucas will hopefully be dit this season and Suarez won't be missing for 1/4 of the season. We've now got a striker who hs decent movement, pace and power to compliment Suarez.

Overall, if we keep all the players we currently have then I'm optimistic 5th will be achieved and we'll be pushing for 4th.

Can't stand FSG, but they saved us from administration (look what happened to Leeds and Rangers - we WEREN'T to big to implode) and they've paid off £50m of stadium debt, though for FFP reasons that look that they'll never come about anyway.

City can afford to pat Agger £150k a week to play 20-25 games a season: we can't. Let him go - it's good business for all of us.

Will be gutted to see him leave, if it ever happens? But If he was to go to any other team in the Prem, then City would be the most bearable.
