With the talk of a new banner I was wondering what people see as the iconic images of the club

    Stokoe running towards Monty

    Gary Bennett strangling Davis speedy

    Kerr lifting the cup

    Kevin ball lifting the championship

Quinn and Phillips in the rain at the mags

    Paolo's knee slide

    What are your images?

The pictures of the Roker End in the 30's and the Fulwell End in the 80's.

Rowell placing the penalty at SJP in the 4-1.

The Mags hitting the force field on the half way line in the play offs.

I'm kinda hoping pictures of Gus with the League Cup in hand kissing it; cup winning goal scorer Borini (with that now iconic celebration) & Johnson et al in joyous excitement and especially JOS lifting the cup towards the Sunderland fans will be available on March 3rd <cool>

Although I only saw it on tv it's the play off 2nd leg against the crass brings backs most memories. Was at the 1st leg though and the final vs Swindon was my first visit to Wembley. Shower of ****e it was and the longest trip home ever, only to find out we'd been promoted anyway a few weeks later. followed by seeing us in the top flight for the first time, then the following season after being relegated was the cup run and Wembley again where we wore the funkiest away strip ever!
