Amidst all the celebration about Rodgers being sacked I want to raise a toast to Brodge.

He isn't ready for a club like Liverpool yet but at least he wasn't as bad as Moyes at United. <ok>

We leaked goals like crazy and often didn't have a plan but Brodge was always a pleasant man. He's the type of manager you wish would do well. A nice guy with little controversy. (besides dumping his wife).

For a while we played the most entertaining football I can recall.

Good Luck Rodgers on your future endeavours.

Did the sh*t on his wife so gets no sympathy from me.

My Grandad always used to say "never trust a man who cheats on his wife, because if he cheats on someone he has sworn vows to he will not think twice about cheating on anyone else".

That was before he ran off with the au pair! Only joking about that last bit.

Mweh..as long as he is not breaking the law or bucking the fluff in the centre circle on match day his private life is his own. If we were to dismiss everyone's work based on their personal life there would be few people with clean hands left in the world.

He treated the club with respect and represented us well, tried his best without ultimate success and left with dignity.

    That's where it should end..

I don't know the circumstances of Brodge leaving his wife. I know he found a hotter younger model- but is that why he left, or were there other things going on that we're not aware of and she was just the push he needed to escape a difficult situation?

I would say it looks bad on Rodgers but I won't hang him without knowing the details.

Just wasn't to be and it became more and more obvious throughout last season that he was going to struggle to turn things around. Trying 3-4 different formations in a game, playing so many out of position, the constant defensive problems and never having a settled spine were basic and glaring issues. In some areas he was unlucky, Sturridge's injury and Sterling being a sulky prick undoubtedly hindered him but these are the things every top level manager has to deal with. Ultimately he failed and delivered nothing other than two poor seasons and one "hit the post".

Whoever takes over has to be given time of course but they also need to have a better structure behind them. We need a strong character who will help sort the off field issues as well as those on it. BR rightly has taken the bullet but those in the background have caused many of the problems we've seen recently and that can't carry on under the new manager or we will just keep repeating the same cycle.

You can't judge people on leaving their marriage without knowing the full circumstances, and I don't think it's up to us to take a holier-than-thou attitude anyway.
He was the manager of the club we all love and we should only judge him on that. He tried his best, but was out of his depth at a club that makes such high demands.
I hope he does well wherever he goes, as long as he throws it every time they play against us.

    I was one of them.
Yanks are always way behind us. They tell us it's a time-zone thing but I'm not buying it.

My overview of Rodgers now he's no longer manager:

On the whole wife/younger woman thing, meh, none of my business. Yeah we can all have a laugh and a giggle and rivals will make a joke of it but on the whole its nothing that doesn't happen the world over and in wider society, so who cares really.

On Rodgers personality, he's a bit of a buffoon and gives too many catchphrases and soundbites, but on the whole he's not a dislikeable man (like Mourinho). I've never wanted rid because of his personality.

On his ambition and aims its one of his more admirable qualities. He clearly wanted the same as the fans and as a manager I do feel he has massive ambition to win things (whether he does or not if yet to be seen).

On his transfer and tactics (his management), its the reason he sacked. His record in the market was poor and his tactics/style faded without answer how to fix it. The big losses at the end of last season and the poor performances this don't seem to have an end and its generally a sign of a manager who has run out of ideas and can no longer deal with the problems within.

I think he would better suited for a club that targets 10th and above, in fact he was well suited for Swansea and I think another long stint a club in that bracket may help him be ready if another high pressure club come calling. However I don't see anyone else taking the chance on him unless he is to win something, like a cup.
Think Rodgers himself would be looking for such a club, lower expectations, less money to spend and a chance to display his style without fear of losing to many games.
Good luck to him, Can see him winning a cup one day but never being a title challenger again.
