I have a day off today, which has allowed me more time than usual to peruse this site. I have to say that I find it truly amazing how we can all see the exact same situation or performance and yet have completely different views on it. Take Wednesday's game for instance.........Some thought Derry was magnificent whilst someone thought he was terrible; some thought Onouha was very good whilst someone else thought he was poor throughout; some thought Kenny kept us in it whilst others still thought he looked dodgy etc etc. Really amazing how we see the same action but have views from opposite ends of the spectrum!! Also, there is a big debate (AGAIN!!) about Barton.........some think he hasn't played too badly while others think he has; some think he isn't a bad influence whilst others think he is! We are all right some of the time of course, but I really love the way football throws up these debates and differing view-points. Long may it continue....keep it coming guys and gals!! URrrsssss!!
Good stuff and the reason i am sure why we attract so many fans from other clubs onto this site. I hope we retain our second club status to these people . QPR a unique footballing club
Col, but seriously I agree it is funny how people view things. About 25 years ago while working in a Jewellers in the UK I managed to apprehend a thief but unknown to me he had an accomplice who hit me on the head from behind. Afterwards the police were taking statements from people watching this whilst sitting on a bus and the object used to hit me ranged from a baseball bat, machete, 4"by2", telescopic pole and metal pipe it amazed me that 10 or more people could see something different from 10 yards. Anyway alright now apart from the jerky neck, blurred vision, bad hearing and lack of awareness!
You are spending your day off perusing the site Col? I worry for you mate, I try to restrict my visits to time paid for by my employer only. I regard it as motivational for my work. Where I am it's a beautiful day, get outside! Your OP is of course spot on - the diversity of perspective and opinion based on watching the same thing is astounding and very entertaining.
Yep and it's pretty inconsistent, one day I’m in complete agreement with everything someone posts and the next day i think they're mad and have never seen a game. There’s even the rare occasion where someone manages to change my opinion, though I'm still always right at the end of the day!!!
Yep sorry about that but i had a family to feed and it was in fact a 8lb brown trout which I had purchased for my Grandmother ... if its any comfort to you she threw up as she choked on one of your hairs... I was misled and promised the Sekonda of my choice if i rode shotgun
Any remaining brain cells have been turned to mush by reading the Barton bitching on other threads. Only lighthearted stuff until kick off at the Stadium of Sh*te. On which my season ticket Mackem mate thinks we have a shout - reckons the players are scared of injury before cup replay, semi final appearance at Wembley a major lure for them. Draw would do me.
Ah, sorry col. You are right, football unites and divides opinion. Take my dad for example, he's only just got over thinking Dave ( or agyepong as he thinks he's called ) is the key to our success, but to be fair to him, he spent most of his formative years hiding under an oak dining table for fear of German bombs, so allowances must be made. The title of your post says it all for me. We don't go to QPR because we have to, we go because we love it and nights like Wednesday are amoungst the peak of our experiences. Whatever happens this season, we've had a couple of magic moments which will stay with us forever. I, too, love football.
Agree, Col. Despite our win, the way Liverpool played at times - particularly Gerrard - was just exquisite. For the first twenty minutes I was saying to myself, they're not just a different class, they're from a different planet. Well, we know now it must have been Planet Cock-It-Up-At-The -End, but still the way they went about things for most of the match will remain in my memory.
