Last night feeling a little under the weather I decided to have an early night and watch the Leicester vs Chelsea game which I had recorded earlier in the day. During the match I watched relatively inexpensive players run the ass off a bunch of overpaid prima donnas with their effort and commitment. It just goes to show that what we want to achieve is possible and that players who don't expect to be paid in gold bullion are also still out there and just want a chance to prove themselves.

Now don't get me wrong but I have never considered Leicester to be on my bucket list of places to visit and yet the population are so lucky to be watching this renaissance of the game the way it should be played. Hard work never killed anyone and how refreshing it is to see the Foxes show the likes of some Russian billionaire and the most arrogant manager around some humility. It proves, if nothing else, that spending billions on players who don't give a rat's arse may be all well and good in the press but when it comes down to brass tacks give me commitment every time please.

My dream consisted of putting Bristol City in the same scenario and watching us play in front of 30,000 plus in a comfortable stadium that fits the bill spot on and showing Chelsea that we cannot be taken lightly. I am positive that most, if not all, of you would welcome that happening to Bristol City and if my memory serves me correctly it is a dream we are being constantly being told is our aim. According to legend the same dream has come true in many other small population locations and it's only a matter of time before it comes to pass in BS3.

The early morning phone call just woke me up and my dreams have been shattered.

P.S. I have always had a soft spot for Leicester ever since Chris Garland left City for pastures new and last night's performance has restored some of my faith in the game of football. The Foxes are a credit to the sport in how they have gone about their business - well done to them all.

It wasn't that long ago that they were in League 1 with Norwich either.

    It CAN be done

It is nice to see a team doing well in the prem outside of the 'big 5'

Southampton, Swansea and West Ham have all had their eye in previously but it's looking better for Leicester than anyone else in recent memory

Add Southampton to that list as well. In their case, I do remember many on here laughing at the poster who used to come on here with the quote from the chairman Nicola Cortese talking about getting them from league One to Europe in the space of 5 years.

He wasn't far off, just goes to show what can happen with money and the right people in place...

Mike, understand the sentiment re Leicester but you also have to take into account the fact that there is a player revolt going on at The Bridge at the moment...

Yes I understand the situation at Chelsea and I believe we had a similar player revolt some years ago. I ask the same question as many others, why not us? I believe we are not far from having a stadium of which we can justifiably be proud and the backing of a successful businessman. So why not?

I think that when the stadium is finished, our owner will turn his full attention to the team.

The massive boost to the income from the West stand being in use 350 days a year will finally give us the opportunity to splash some serious cash within the framework of FFP.

Can't have one without the other....

Swansea and Southampton both moved on from that league with completed stadiums. We can't change the past so we just got to wait to see what happens,

We cant go backwards again to try and move forwards it's the worst gamble imaginable.

There are no guarantees we would be as successful in L1 as we were last season were the worst to happen - Sheffield United will bear that out.

I'm hoping that Bolton and Rotherham will fill 2 of the relegation places in the Championship. That leave us fighting with Charlton, Huddersfield, and MK Dons for the final place.

Look how Preston have shot up the league by getting a few results together recently.
