Cameron Jerome has put a question mark over his future at Stoke City by saying he doesn't believe he has been given a fair chance at the Brit - According to the Sentinel. "I have not been given a fair crack of the whip - what I think would be a fair run in the side. Thats just my personal opinion. I train hard and I see what goes on in training. The rotation policy has not been fair in my eyes, but that is the managers decession........ ........." I have not really spoken to him about playing since I have been here. He picks the side and you just get on with it. As a player you work hard in training and try to break into the team I suppose, but it seems no matter what I do I cant get in! That's something I will have to address in the summer. To be honest, I am unhappy about not playing, but there are probably 10 or 11 other players in the same position as me." I was never a fan of his signing, as I felt he would duplicate what Fuller does and not give us a new dimension, but given that Fuller has been non existent this term and Walters has been generally poor, you would think he would have had a run of games at some point? For me he isnt a week in week out starter, but then again neither is Walters! It seems that there appears to be some resentment and not just from Jerome, and really, who can blame them? I thought Jerome's goal last night was excellent, something Walters is not capable of doing when 100% fit and fresh, let alone after his 52nd game in a row! Thoughts?
I actually feel really sorry for Jerome Smither's see my comments on the game last night... TWO feckin mins and he scores. He HAS looked good/up for it/ he has pace and some skill aka the goal last night.. excellent finish. I fear he might? put in a transfer request if things do not improve for the lad, I hope not but he's not had a fair crack IMO. We we're all saying last night at half time. " Pulis get Jerome on now" but Smither's WHY does Pulis have to wait until after the hour mark? IMO bad Management, don't know if you we're there last night but that first half was **** once Jerome/Fuller and Whelan came on we looked a different side. Didn't Pulis mention rotating the squad, becasue of the Europa games? Yet Walters and Jones start before Jerome????
Potts Will look at your comments but I think 2nd loudest cheer of the night was when Walters came off. Jerome has scored 8 goals in all competitions now and how many minutes has he played. Everton realised we had real pace when he came on and he did provide a different dimension. I just hope he is given 90 minutes on Sunday! Doubt it though. Cheers
In relation to "bad management" I thought the selection was strange! Huth at RB and 3 CB on, 2 imobile front men for which KJ pretty much played in the midfiled! Walters again picked! 1st half was awful, a little more zip and creativity in the 2nd half! Ethrington was better, but is a shadow of the player he was before he injured himself at Man City (I think) last season! I am actually more worried then ever in relation to our forwards in general! Ethrington is declining. Pennant (who has been one of our best players this season) will be gone. Walters has been found out. Fuller has had it. KJ will be gone (I think) and has offered little for the past 18 months. Jerome is unhappy and will probably jump at any opportunity. So in effect we probably need TWO 1st team (starters) wingers to rotate equally with Ethrington at a cost of probably 10 million - someone like a Jarvis and A another! We need a 10 million fast striker with 15 prem goals in them to pair up with Crouch - proably something like Defo. We need at least ONE central midfielder (although with Delap resigining I think this will get over looked) in the region of 8 million (Like Palcious) and we need a LB & RB probably again at a cost of 10 million for the pair! My maths aint great, but to stand still we need to spend in the region of 38 million and we will probably get less than 8 million back for KJ and Jerome - the rest have no value! So Coates 30 million it is!
Smithers In terms of those players. Ethrington - I think he has reall back problems and is probably the primary reason for his poor return this year. He also seems to be lacking confidence. Pennant - I do not think he will be about next year. More likely he will be behind bars Walters Yes I think he has been found out and is a one trick pony Ricardo - NO contract extension on the table. He will be gone unless TP thinks it it worth another £1million in salary KJ - I hope some club is stupid enough to buy him. Jerome - I like to think that TP will give him more time so we retain him. In conclusion I do not think he will get £30 million or anything like it from the board. The club will get something like £43 million from the EPL for the TV performances, Merit awards ect so do not know what TP will be able to use to replace and strenghten. Cheers
Its a bit concerning isnt it that our full forward line is due for a reshuffle with no or very little value?
Cris Without looking it up.. TWO of Walters goals have come from open play... Jerome has done really well YET Pulis thinks he should sit on the bench.
IMO, Jerome hasn't played brilliantly for the odd games he's started, but definitely deserves to come on earlier and more regularly.
Potterpistol Agree Jerome has not played wonderfully when he has come on. However he has scored 8 goals in thetime spent on the pitch. As you say he should be given more time on the pitch!!! Nicky What is your comment directed at??
True, but neither has Walters! Also the supposed "rotation policy" hasn't been implemented fairly or on form! Who's to say that if Jerome had played Walters's number of games he wouldn't have scored 25 goals? If your not given a chance how can you be judged? I'm not Jerome's biggest fan by far, but he has demonstrated enough to justify a start ahead of Walters!
Nicky ONLY 30 million quid? Ask Mr Coates nicely, he might double it.. !! Stupid thing is, any Manager worth his salt would/could buy good player's with half that ammount.
