Hypothetical Summer Transfer Swaperoo

The premier league clubs spent an ungodly amount on striking talent this summer... The likes of Bony and Negredo have been somewhat of a success (especially the latter), but there's been some pretty abject and incredibly expensive flops thus far, names we might once have looked at or dreamt of playing in the black and white...

So... Even with our horrendous striking shortage, would anybody take any of the current "flops", Van Wolfswinkel, Soldado, Lamela, Altidore, Kone, Aspas, Jovetic, Osvaldo (I think he's s***, even if he did score that one wonder-goal), Cornelius?


*I've not added Carroll to the roster because the criteria was expensive players who've been available for selection, yet have either played poorly or not been selected.

 

I've gone for Kone and Jovetic.

Kone was in inspired form for Wigan last year, and is a proficient goalscorer. I think he'd be a certain improvement on Cisse, anyway.

Jovetic, I rate, but he will find it difficult getting games with the talent ahead of him in the pecking order.

The rest I think are utter garbage.

Find it hard to believe that a supporter with Cisse in his team would want to bring up the subject of FLOPS

 

I've said none of the above. I like Jovetic a lot, a quality player. The only one who really fits the bill for us is Altidore though and he hasn't been able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo so far.

 

None of the above, they're no better than what we've got.

 

I've gone for none also. No better than what we have and if they are not doing it now what's to say they will suddenly do it for us.

 

Maybe he'd do better with a double bass.

They haven't exactly set the PL alight and I'd throw Bony and Hooper into the pot with them.

 

If it is indeed a "Hypothetical Summer Transfer Swaperoo" as you call it, then I would 'swap' Cisse and Obertan (who in the last 30 seconds has just been officially re-labelled as a 'striker' by NUFC for Soldado and Jovetic.

 

The difference is one flop not 16 like down the road

 

To be fair we've had our share of flops, although we didn't get them all in one summer
