    WARNING: SUPER NERD POST ALERT!

    Because of the nature of alcohol being an ADH Inhibitor (the hormone responsible for stopping the body from over-releasing fluid when it should be holding on to it), the alcohol itself is responsible for the inability to retain an adequate amount of body fluid. Making alcohol more hydrating doesn't stop the mechanism of alcohol stopping your body from keeping hold of the fluid.
