I have rarely seen a foreign club come to England and boss one of our so called top clubs like this. Defeat is one thing and all clubs including United have been beaten at home in European competition. But to be so comprehensively outclassed ? Arsenal a few years ago gave a good showing against Barcelona. Yesterday showed how far they have plunged and how much they have to do to catch up. As some pundits are saying they are following the scousers into oblivion... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...e-Wenger-needs-Champions-League-lifeline.html
We could lose the 4th spot in the Euro cup, because ££££, Chavs are French Arse are so bad in euro now. the lot of them are becoming a disgrace to English football.
It would take a lot for us to lose our 4th CL spot, particularly with Portuguese and French clubs being even worse than us this season. But we may well drop behind Germany this year thanks to City, Chelsea and Liverpool's failings, and possibly Spurs and Newcastle too.
We never finish 4th anyway so wouldn't really worry me. Would be quite funny if the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea finished 4th and didn't get in
Would have to feel quite sorry for Spurs in that situation - all those years of struggling and building to get 4th spot, then one year it is taken away from them after Chelsea do really well, the next season it's taken away from them cos Chelsea are dog ****
Firstly, we helped England's ratings by winning the comp last year. Secondly, you can't really slag us off for not getting out the group giving your showing in Europe last year playing pub teams.
Not really. The manner in which you won the competition, scraping through with so many losses and draws, meant that you earned fewer ranking points than Real, Barca and Atletico. Utd are still the biggest contributors to England's ratings, Chelsea are now only one place ahead of Arsenal in the rankings.
Of course we helped England out in the ranking points last year. We got 33050, the same as Bayern. To say we did not help England out is churlish Clubs' coefficients are determined by the sum of all points won in the previous five years, plus 20% of the association coefficient over the same period (33% before 2009)
Didn't help England's ratings - we fell from 1st to 2nd. That would have happened with or without Chelsea winning the competition. You performed worse overall than three of the Spanish clubs, so did nothing to help keep us ahead of Spain, and without the extra 2 ranking points from your win we would still be ahead of Germany. You will only have 'helped England out' if we regain top spot or fall to within 2 points of Germany over the next four years. If that doesn't happen, your contribution will have helped us no more than your 6-1 win over Nordsjaelland helped your CL campaign this season.
