Good (hopefully brilliant) Friday sees us travel to Hull for the first of the Easter fixtures. I see the luvvies in the top flight have chosen to ignore the traditional Easter football fest. But I digress. Unlike the Malayan (ironic) and Sumatran sub species, the Tigers of Hull seem no longer to be critically endangered. Their troubles seem to have eased slightly on and off the field. As pointed out by my esteemed friend ninian opinion, like us Hull are dreadful at home but do better away. So does that make us favourites? Fill yer boots Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
I think we'll get a feel for his recruitment during the summer from how he lines up to the end of the season. Hope he gives himself some room to flex the formation through the season though. A question mark over Ng for me. Looks ok as a CB in a back 3. Not sure he has the physical presence to be a CB in a back 4. We live in interesting times.
Hull favourites for this one - City (our City) are @ 15/8 against to take it. Can't help but go for a challenge. Got 5/1 on our City to win it by a margin of 2 or more goals - £20 gone on.
Back to 5 2 1 2 or even 5 2 3. Bit of a kick in the nuts for Ng and Nelson but a good opportunity for Denham. I assume Ralls is injured again or does he want to move closer to home as well. And preserve his £28k per week?
BBC gone with their usual off piste formations. Started 4231 with McGuiness in midfield. Updated that to 352 with MGuiness at RWB.
12 quid left in my account after my above punt, so that's 6 quid each on Flinty and/or McGuiness scoring today. Flinty's @ 15/2 and McGuinness @ 14/1 - maybe long shots, but I wonder.
Rotation - there’s another game in 3 days. Trying out players and formations. I’m in favour of that at this stage of the season.
Just seen the first goal on the Hull page. Awful defending. McGuiness pressured out on right wing, wins ball back, plays a terrible across the box to static Flint who doesn't even come close to getting the ball. Phillips dashes out, their guy goes around the both of them for a tap in. Bring back Ng and Nelson.
Don't think this one is about winning but instead finding out more. Not good for the traveling fans but they'll have a good time anyway. These are the final, experimental throws of a horrible season.
The shortcomings of the likes of Vaulks, Flint, McGuinness, Harris, Phillips and Ipuenza are shockingly apparent. 2 terrible goals.
Terrible first half performance by City outfield players, but Phillips is an accident waiting to happen. He should have smothered that poor backpass instead of trying to clear it with his feet and his attempt to stop their second was pathetic. He's flapped at a few crosses and elected to punch one that was easier to catch. I've never had much confidence in Phillips as our number one keeper and I've got even less now. We will lose more games next season if he retains the No.1 spot - I really hope Morison can see that.
