Over the last few months I have supported Hughes, not because I think he's a great manager, but because I want to see stability at our club and I expected that Hughes would keep us in the league quite easily with the players he has brought in. Well after todays shambles not any more. Can he really not see what we can. Does he really think that Granero should be wide right? Could he not see that throughout the entire game we were not trying to prevent their short corners, and eventually that led to the 3rd goal. Can he not see that by not leaving at least one man on the half way line at their corners we are guranteeing that the ball will just come straight back if we manage to clear the corner. Did I really see us try zonal marking for the first time today, in such a crucial game. What a total disaster that was. And next week I've got 3 tickets at Old Trafford. Ant takers's? Anyway, I'm now converted, HUGHES OUT.
The best part was Faurlin marking Lambert while nelsen was zonal marking no one. Id like to know if there is anyone left in the "In" camp.
hughes position has become untenable..lost the fans and lost the dressing room.be gone before monday.nailed on.
Owner and manager said it's a must win. We didn't win. By the sounds of it, the cracks are widening. I have to agree with the OP in terms of wanting stability and also the knowledge that a change of fortunes could spark a decent run (it happened last year and Hughes deserves his share of credit for it). Hughes has a decent record elsewhere and I think he's a decent manager BUT there are times when it simply doesn't work at a particular club. That club is us sadly. His methods and tactics (however much we hate them) did at Fulham and especially Blackburn but not for us - a team that needs confidence to build on. It's Hughes out for me now. Please Mr Fernandes, don't lose heart but do something though. Stick with the vision and find someone that can make an impact but also build an empire. Someone young but with presence. Someone who can command a dressing room. Lambert should be a target (perhaps more realistic after today) and someone mentioned Slaven Billic a week ago - good shout whoever.
Agree with that. His methods just don't suit the team of mercenaries he signed. I can't see any player enjoying the way he approaches the game. Our players have talent, they need to enjoy football again. Sadly MH goes about this as just another job he gets paid to do and this has rubbed of on the players.
When we had our little half-time meet up, and the three of us just looked at each other and there were no words coming out. That spoke for far more than anything we've discussed all season. One of my mates said he will have the Man u tickets off you for £300. Can you make sure the cash is in his account by Tuesday.
Leaving Hughes to one side, our players with the exception of Nelsen, were a disgrace today. They are highly/ overpaid alleged professionals and must take personal responsibility for their performances, even if 'they don't want to play for him'. Would that we all had the luxury of hiding behind our boss when we cock up at work or refusing to do our best because don't like him/her.
i thought Taarabt and Mackie cared, Boswinga and Granero were particularly bad today, especially the latter who spent the 1st half sulking because he was on the RW.
Mackie did his best, which isn't good enough, Adel sweated but he is taking so much time on the ball that even after he has beaten two players the rest of the team is back and defending. 'Caring' is the minimum expectation for thousands of quid a week, performances that change games are what I am looking for.
Yes, likewise mate, except he lost me a week or two earlier. We need change, for the sake of change ............ just to get the players mindset back to 'positive' mode and on course again. The players do not need to say a thing, by the sounds of it, their body language & performance said it all.
If Harry walked into the camp we would have certain players look up to him with respect Nobody has got any respect for Hughes anymore
Thats made me smile for the first time today. Thanks for cheering me up, let me have his bank account details.
