http://thegamesgonecrazier.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/leicester-citys-pearson-going-staying.html ... this sort of speculation is why the owners should come out and say something ...
That guy's an arse with all the wit and charm of Idi Amin. His opinions count for **** since he seems to have a personal vendetta against us. I don't know why he writes about Leicester all the time. Perhaps we're the only ones he gets a rise from. Nor do I know why people keeping reading his blog since he seems to have zero knowledge of football outside of West Ham. But what is they say about empty clams?
I've searched online but saw nothing. I'm damn sure never (knowingly) putting a penny to the continued existence of that rag, so if anyone can sum up what they have "reported", I would appreciated it.
Agreed. This would have been the third time in nine months they would have had to quash rumours about Nige. If they'd released statements every time, they would be a laughing stock. They did deserve credit for sticking with Nige too. People still think of them as being "trigger happy", partially because of Sousa and Sven, partially because they're foreign. In reality, this is bollocks. Under Sousa we were heading for relegation (we were getting hammered every game) and Sven spend a fortune and didn't improve us a jot in a full year. Neither of these compare to sacking a manager who made the play-off while spending relatively little.
I saw it on BBC SPORT/FOOTBALL on sunday, hence THE MAIL ON SUNDAY. Clicked on the article & it said Hughes & Lennon in the running for the LCFC job or words to that effect. Could be a load of crap from the paper, it´s no WUM from me I´m not a WUMker Pulis is being rumoured now too so I believe, not seen any thing myself.
Heres the owners Statement from October about Nigel http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/051012-club-statement-409264.aspx If they release one of these every other week because some supporters/media call for Nigel head then it will lose the effect of releasing statements backing there man and will destabilise the club. The owners no longer want to be seen in the foreground every week as they are happy with how the club is going on and off the pitch. While yes we fell short but that just means you come back stronger and not start again
Proud - you are way wide of the mark with this, with all due respect. Yes, we get the point that you don't expect football club owners to be contnually making public statements - don't think any would disagree. But our manager then took his team on a run that was nothing short of relegation form and which lasted over a third of an entire season. That run cost us an automatic promotion spot - simple as. We then scraped a play-off spot with an injury time goal on the last day of the season in a scenario where it was actually out of our hands but our main rivals for that last spot blew it. We then lost that play-off semi. To try and make an argument that 'speculation' on our manager's future after that was solely down to a malicious press conspiracy and some disgruntled fans is daft - and a club statement pre-dating that run does not qualify as a cover all and get out of jail card.
That's exactly what it is though! People can interpret our season how they want. You say he blew automatic promotion. I say we only got into second spot because of a run that was exceptional, not typical of the season as a whole. You say the bad run spanned a third of the season. I say the bad run lasted 11 games, which also included a great result at home to Blackburn an unlucky draw at Cardiff (still a very decent point), an acceptable draw at Blackpool on a crap pitch and a hardly disastrous draw against Leeds. After that run, we returned to form for eight matches, only losing to seemingly Prem-bound Watford on two occasions, both of which had a bit of bad luck around them. You say we barely made the play-offs, I say we made them with an heroic effort at a place we haven't won at for 42 years and after going 1-0 down in a match I for one will remember forever. You say we blew the play-offs, I say we were one kick away from Wembley against arguably the weakest side in the play-offs. Whatever way you interpret things though, you can't deny that we aren't far off the finished article (as far as this league goes). All but three of our three/four of our regular players are Pearson's signings. Our owners appear to trust him to finish the job. So should our fans.
Think the only bad luck we had against Watford in the league game at the KP was that their coach didnt break down on the way to Leicester. They were by far the better team. We edged the play off game at the KP and a 1 goal lead was fair. They completely battered us at their place in the return game. If you are talking about the penalty, it wasnt bad luck, it was just a very poorly taken penalty. Over the 2 legs of the play off, they deserved the win. Dont see us as any where near the finished article Gangsta, consistency is not there. We had an opportunity and didnt take it. In fact we completely bottled it, and even the manager admitted he didnt know why. Personally, I agree that the owners shouldnt release a statement backing NP (even if they are backing him). I am not yet convinced that they have made a final decision on his future. Time will tell. If he is here on the opening game of next season he will have my full support, as will Paul Gallagher, Jermaine Beckford, David Nugent and anybody else employed by my club. Wont mean that I will like or respect some of them, but they will get my support.
I think whether we had two thirds of all right football or one third of relegation football, the truth is we scraped into the play offs with the worst number of points on record, possibly the weakest champion ship for a number of years (12 pts difference between playoffs and relegation) and have managed to build a debt near 100 million. To say Pearson has done a great job getting rid of high earners is complete tosh. He has loaned out these players to other champion clubs whilst no doubt picking up most of the wage bill.and they are still here, and Pearson followers say we have had improvement.yes he has bought in James and knocky ...good buys but against this , he has added vardy ..useless. Wood jury still out and that central defender whose name I have completely forgotten, due to the fact that he is always fcuking injured. I don't personally see any improvement since Sven left.
The Watford league game - their young lad scored a once-in-a-career goal. We were the better side before they scored but then we lost it for about five minutes and they could have had three. Second half, we scored and should have had a penalty. Watford slowed the game down no end. There's always a hint of fortune about penalties. It's a brave man that rifles the ball into the top corner because the risks of skying it are great. Hit it too far to the left or right and you're in danger of going wide. Hit it low and the keeper goes the right way, it's saved. Chip down the middle and the keeper stays on his line, it's saved. The whole thinking behind a penalty shootout is that someone is going to miss eventually, one way or another but the majority will be scored, hence he was in the minority and therefore unlucky. Don't agree they battered us. The first half was very balanced and we got back level pretty easily. The second half was tough going but they were the home side and did finish higher than us, so we had to expect some pressure. We rode it and waited for our chance, which eventually came. Bottled it - to an extent maybe, but I'd put that down to having the youngest squad in the division, many not having played a full season and some not at this level. They will have learnt from this and, with the addition of some experienced players, next year will be a different story. Cardiff weren't consistent at the end of last season either. In fact, everyone expected Middlesbrough to do really well because of their finish last season, but that didn't happen did it? With results, you can't always look at the past to see the future. But you can look at the work Pearson has done and form opinions around that. Here I see a good side that would benefit from one or two additions and another season together. Then we'll see how close we are to the finished article. There's obviously two possibilities at the moment, since he's still here. He's staying; nothing else every crossed the owners minds so they feel they don't have to state this (the press release Proud presented virtually states they aren't going to make a habit of it). The other possibility is, as you say, they haven't made their minds up yet. I find this unlikely because if they thought the bad run was sufficient enough to sack him, they would have done it back in March or as soon as the season ended. The good results at the end of the season wouldn't have counted for much - if you're not good enough, you're not good enough. They'd be no point hanging on to him unless they were looking at options on the managerial merry-go-round - obviously Pulis has become available today. This is possible of course and, as I posted previously, there's nothing wrong with assessing all options. If Pearson starts buying players, you can be pretty certain he's staying for now. But to be honest, even if they do release a statement, doesn't mean he wouldn't sack him within six games if he's not cutting it. They'll do whatever feels right to them at the time. We can only agree or disagree.
The debt of £100m was up to October and included most of the time Sven and Sousa were here and only the Jan transfer window and last summer for Pearson, plus the owners took on the debt for the ground. You think he should be sacked for this? So Vardy and Whitbread (a free transfer) didn't work out but Knocky, James, De Laet, Marshall, Morgan, Wood (the jury's only out on whether's merely good or great, 11 goals in half a season is very decent) and Drinkwater all did. You think he should be sacked for this? Pearson got rid of Mills, Bamba (at a profit), Panitsil, Vassell and Peltier of Sven's signings plus Howard, Moussa, Weale, Kennedy and Tunchev, and that was just this season. He sent out Beckford, Danns and St Ledger on loan to relieve their burden on us. But if no-one wants to buy at even a fraction of the massive price Sven signed them at or pay the wages he put them on, is this Pearson's fault? You think he should be sacked for this? I like you twist on this league being weak, but Watford are one of the best sides I've ever seen at this level. And they didn't get automatic. Wolves went down. I'd say it wasn't so much this league was weak, but actually very strong from top to bottom (with the exception of Bristol City). You think he should be sacked for this? We haven't improved since Sven? Did he make the play-offs? Has anyone other than Pearson in the last ten years? You think he should be sacked for this?
Your views are definitely blinkered Gangsta - although your loyalty can't be faulted. We huffed and puffed against Watford in the league game to little effect. Yes it was a fabulous strike by Chalobah but Kapser kept us in the game in the first half with a string of exceptional saves. They cut us to ribbons with their movement, passing and control. They should have finished up at least 3 goals clear of us - they WERE that much better.
im sorry ganster, but never in my thread did i ever say pearson should be sacked. i dont think he should of been allowed back. my whole take on pearson which im afraid a few of his fans cant see or dont want to see is that he can't handle high profile players, has very little in man management and has the personality of a skunk. what really would be the point sticking with him, if he managed to get us promoted, and that is a big if, we wouldnt be able to bring prem players into the club for fear of him falling out with them. why does anyone think pearson is responsible for clearing out high earners.chances are he cant get on with them so the actual employers of lcfc get rid in any way possible. its simple logic.
On high profile players, Mills has failed to make an impression at Bolton, meaning he wasn't good enough, and Pearson knew it. Danns isn't high profile, hes just on high wages. The only high profile player he may be wrong about is Beckford, but i can imagine if Pearson had stuck with him, there would probably imo be fan outcry to why he hasn't been dropped due to his poor workrate. Pearson has got rid of weak/overpaid players, doesn't mean he can't handle them.
Disagree about Danns - have been a fan for many years having watched him completely control games against us - was really pleased when Sven signed him but couldn't understand why he was then played out of position (not a wide man). For, admittedly a short spell that season, he looked a class act - when we played Chelsea in the cup he was just about our only player who didn't look out of place on the same pitch. Disagree that Pearson has merely got rid of 'weak' players - they had all built good reputations at their previous clubs and their signings were to some degree 'a coup' given the other teams also expressing interest in them at the time (e.g Rangers wanted Danns) - indeed I still think all 3 could do very well in the Championship - he has without doubt got rid of 'strong willed' players and, in that, Whitwick has a point - I share many of his concerns in that regard - as do others on here.
Danns is on massive wages, while I wouldnt say he has a bad attitude but his attitude is wrong. And the simple fact is he isnt as good as Andy King, Matty James or Danny Drinkwater
