As has been mentioned by my esteemed punting colleagues on this, the greatest tipping site on the planet, today sees the coming together of some of the true heavyweights of the racing industry, to do battle for the honour of being the first legitimate, not 606, racing shyster. And what a field of dodgy characters are assembled for the much awaited contest. There can be no doubt that each and everyone of them knows the ins and outs of a horse's arse, but none of them should be trusted to be left alone around said orifice. A quick perusal of the draw sees some earth shattering encounters.

Zen v Wooly. This could quickly develop into a vicious affair, with both combatants going in with a lot of trash talk under their belts. It could be anything, a super duel, or it could just as easily fizzle out into a non contest, with both men pissing on their own feet. Zen is full of the zest of life, which should stand him in good stead, Wooly though has more experience, so it will be an interesting contest.

Peddlers v Reebs. Peddlers seems to have his head screwed on, but occasionally it's facing the wrong way. He's full of talent and is capable of a brilliant performance, but tends to fly under the radar a bit, a real smokey. Reebs on the other hand is as flashy a goer as you'd get. Likes to get into the action and will bust a gut for the cause. If he hits too many fences he might end up on the deck. Interesting tussle.

Danish v Ches. The archetypal clash if the new comer up against the seasoned warhorse. Spies have it on good authority that Danish has been showing his best in the small hours, just before the sun comes up. He's been arrested twice already for lewd behavior. Ches has seen it all and can be relied upon to roll up his sleeves when the going gets tough. That way he can get a nice suntan while others toil away. Danish may be worth a small punt, but Ches has the runs on the board.

Smokin v cyc. Well what can be said about this clash that hasn't already been said in the NY Times, Washington Post and the Bong Bong Bugle? Nobody knows too much about Smokin, other than that he stripped well at the weigh in. He cut a dashing figure. Many a female reporter offered to carry his bags, but thankfully, he kept them in his jocks. Cyc comes into this as a real hit and miss merchant. They say "Age shall not weary them," but it certainly has him. Dodgy knees, not much heart, suspect at the distance and afraid of the whip. (Except on Saturday nights.)

Red v George. Red is another of those who's flown under the radar for a long time. A warrior who will not shirk the issue. His past record shows him to be a force to be reckoned with, so George will have to be on his toes for most of the fight. George is fast and impressive, but if he doesn't stay with the plan, Red will nail him to the wall. Classic boxer v fighter contest. This could go right down to the final bell.

BJM v Islander. BJM, better known to his workmates as "Bubbles," has been on fire of late. A competition specialist who is always there when the whips are cracking. There has been smart money for him all week, here's hoping that the pressure doesn't get to him. It hasn't in the past though. The real deal. And what of Islander? The Canadian Assassin will be all out to turn around his form of late. If he clicks, he's going to take some beating, but he's going to need plenty of road work to get some stamina back into those well worn legs. Could pull off a coup here.

Cats v Oddy. This can only be described as the Clash of the Titans. Two salty old warriors with more than a few miles on the clock. The stands will be packed when this pair take to the field. Cats is the more robust of the two. A hard charging forward who takes no prisoners. Oddy possesses a bit more finesse. He can twist and turn on a coin, but that was when he was selling his body for cash. (He didn't make too much!) Oddy has been in pretty good form of late and might start as a slight favourite, but Cats won't be out there just make up the numbers. This will be a tight one.

Ardent v Cliffy. Ardent is another who seems to specialise in competitions. With this solid record behind him, he will take some beating here. Cliffy will rise to the challenge though, he has a fire in his gut. These two upstarts are the antithesis of Cats and Oddy, they are brash and fresh. This heat might just turn out to be one of the better contests, with either of them taking a decent run through the rounds. Wouldn't surprise to see the winner here, still in the draw when we get to the final four.

I cant wait for the final match report and quotes from the winners and losers... This really is going to catch the imagination of the watching public, all 15 of them and a couple of whippets for good measure...!!!

This could well end up being bigger than some of the greatest sporting duels the world has seen...
    Ali v Fraser
    Borg v McEnroe
    Senna v Prost

    The list is endless...

    BRING IT ON...!!!

    Great write ups cyc... <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Three whippets as it happens - my youngest went for Sparky May but the other two beat him into submission!

At the moment it's looking like a bye for me, and a goodbye from him!

MUFC (spit) Peddlers Cross - are you running scared? Looks like it from here <laugh>

Pick a number bewteen 1 and 10 and I'll let you know who you have drawn. However, until Cyc has declare his comp closed it is not definite that a sub will be used.
