Nothing to do with cheese for those of you not familiar with the term. If you could choose any way to make money, anywhere in the world, what would it be? I know V-Joe would like to be a full-time photographer, time permitting he'd be able to do so but he has other priorities. I also know Bri's Mrs would like to do Microbiology stuff with plants iirc. I'm not in a job which I particularly dreamed of doing, but I do it effortlessly and I'm good at it, but I guess if I had the opportunity to choose a career that would pay as well, I'd much prefer to be a nutritionist. So if you could change your job, get paid more or the same - what do you think you'd enjoy doing the most, or are you currently in your dream job? I'll give it 5 minutes before Comm suggests being a Lap dance tester on £500 an hour
I enjoy my job, but I'd dearly love a job where I was paid to be fit. That's the dream, these footy stars don't know how bloody good they've got it do they!
What do you do mate? I know people who are paid to be fit, personal trainers and that, they're mostly miserable because they're set unrealistic targets every month.
Self employed, run a small business. Love where I live, get to spend lots of time with my two girls, but find time to exercise very limited. If I had to go for a run everyday I'd probably be unhappy, be lovely to get paid to do it though!
I started this job (Finance) with the sole intention of qualifying and heading off back to Saudi Arabia. I'm still doing it while I decide what I want to do when I grow up.
2 months in starting my new job in London, my dad died and split up from my first wife. They were the only family I had at the time. Took me a while to get my focus back. Then met my next wife and had 2 kids shortly after which I became a single parent of 2 lads. Priorities changed. Still, when I grow up, I'm gonna be a fireman
What a question, firstly i really enjoy work but do not like what i do now, design fire engines. I was a coded welder then went into the design office and am now a design engineer. I think my dream job what be a master carpenter or something along those lines, i have just started making wine racks and coffee tables out of old pallet wood and thoroughly enjoy it. Be nice to have some extra income so a salary of about £50k a year would be nice, not being greedy but would give me some extra luxuries in life.
Sorry to hear about your old man mate, but that's what I meant when I wrote the thread... people end up in places because of what happens around them, then you make the important decision to put food on the table first and foremost for your family. I'm sitting here, enjoying a good standard of life on the whole, it could be better and it has been far worse, but I don't particularly enjoy what I'm doing. Then somebody on Facebook, she has left a high paid job in London, lives somewhere rural in a Scandinavian country now, a much simpler life, less pressures, less money, but she claims to be infinitely happier because her job is perfect for her. Who'd be prepared to go and live in the country, growing their own food, living more primitively? I wonder how many people regret not removing themselves from the 'Rat Race' when they're laid flat on their death beds.
She was on telly mate, lives in the wild i think it was called, married a local lad out there and they breed huskies i think it was, she seemed very content with her lot.
Awesome, I think carpenters are called Joiners nowadays. I have some garden furniture made out of pallets, could never decide if they look good or ****, still I have a very large log burner should I ever decide that I no longer want them.
I once heard about some fella getting paid to travel the world to theme parks and expensive resorts. He was a water slide tester... Canny number that.
Well then there's two at least, this girl is just a friend of mine, not a viral story or anything, she just up and left London, 'found her inner self' and all that jazz.
Only if you don't mind heights, eventually you'd have to get on the big vertical ones and I'd fill my duds full of bum soup.
i'd like a slightly nomadic working life, if i could. the wife may not!! considering i grew up in the same place for the first 18 years of me life, i ain't stayed put for too long anywhere else. I enjoy writing. can't see myself cracking a novel, but could open myself up to more consulting work or journo stuff. would need to keep building contacts n get cash in the bank to start off (with mortgages well paid), to help make it, but things like AirBnB make it more of a possibility.... and the fragmentation of work. Back to a bit of uni teaching also a possibility, with long holidays in between for writing. but thats a bit of a ****y world.... and you have to keep publishing articles to keep your 'Prof' role. Make a bit of furniture in me spare time, growing me own grub in the summer up here. The Mrs would have her own dog breeding place and stay put - I'd **** off every now and again and leave her in peace, then look forward to getting home......before wanting to **** off again! Take junior with me from time to time for his education in life... hoying a few matches in every season. Right, where's me cornflakes....
