i'd be more concerned by "her" being called simon

but yea, it happens alot, if you have a multimillion pound company recognised by a name or symbol, then someone starts something with a very similar name/symbol you wouldn't want that would you?
someone hijacking your successful branding with similar things, and possibly people believing they are something to do with your company thus risking you getting problems etc etc from them when it's really nothing to do with you.

I stopped reading when it said 'Arsenal have finally netted their first win of the season'.

I probably shouldn't expect factual journalism from Eurosport, but come on!

You think some people might confuse high heel shoes and fancy hats with Arsenal Football Club?

    Actually... <whistle>

I can see the sense in the principal of protecting a brand, but this is completely unnecessary and I hope she wins her appeal.

I remember a story on the BBC Wales about a Mr Virgin who owned a plumbing business somewhere in South Wales.Do you think people confused him with an airline because Branson tried taking him to court over copyright

You have to consider.. what if that shop became massively popular and she started opening other shops? Then perhaps 'Arsenale' could become a major fashion brand.

So it sounds pretty petty but there is some sense to it.

Hope she wins her appeal. It's absolutely pathetic, you'd have thought a Premier League football club would have more important issues on their mind.

I can't believe any bloke unfortunate enough to have the surname Virgin, would want to use it as his company name. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I am stunned to see this article !!

Maybe if Arsenal paid this much attention and diligence to their transfer dealings we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now !

Absolutely pathetic. The logo is nothing like Arsenal's neither is the typeface. If it is a trademark issue, since when could you trademark a standard word in the English dictionary ?? I didn't think that was allowed.

The Arsenal hierarchy are a bunch of chiefs !

I don't see why anyone should become annoyed by this article. This sort of thing happens all the time in business.

  14. It may happen all the time but I wonder if it has all been so necessary. Someone has been giving the club bad advice. This is nothing and shouldn't even have occupied any thinking time of a club that has much more important matters at hand. It only shows us up in poor light. What can you expect from poor management?

Completely pathetic by the club. If chelsea had done this we would all be laughing at them.

Yeah, have we got a monopoly over the word arsenal, the spelling of it as a name with a capital A, or any variation of if, as in Arsenale ? Or just when someone is trading with the word arsenal in it?

It's a bit baffling this one, as she sells ladies designer clothes, we are a football club - they are a million miles apart.

But to those slagging off the management, this has got more to do with corporate lawyers than anyone connected with football.

She sells hats and shoes, so her shop becomes under the the "clothes, hats and shoes" area
Arsenal have stores that sell arsenal clothes hats etc which is ofcourse in the "clothes, hats and shoes" area of sales, Hence is the problem 2 shops, in the same area of sales, with VERY similar names...

Nothing to do with the football part of Arsenal

Confusion between Arsenal F.C. and a hat shop? How can this be possible? The hat shop is obviously successful and is moving forward!
