When we won the Championship last time we were just about the best of a poor lot, this time there are 6-8 very good teams and it's a lot harder this time. Hoilett has been the stand out player through out the season and I feel sure that he could hold a place in many of the Prem. sides. Another one to chalk up for Warnock, he was going no where until he signed him.
Don't tend to watch too much Prem football these days on the box, but from that I have seen, Hoilett could slot in to plenty of the teams no problem. Outstanding this season and instrumental in getting us where we are right now. In fact I wonder whether we'd be top 6 let alone top 2 without him.
I'm sure he'd be a starter in many bottom third teams and a squad player in many teams up to the top 8. Not sure about your last statement though. You don' t know how who would have been in there instead and how Neil would have adapted the side No doubt he's been one of our top performers. And for sure, I wouldn't want to find out how influential he is by him not being here for the run in. Recorded the championship lad night and watched our couple of minutes. It seems that at last the pundits are taking us serious. Even as far as saying Warnock for manager of the season. Nooooo. We're doomed dooooooomed I tell you!!!
Hoilett in his short time here has quickly become a city favourite, enthusiastic and skilful and deserves a place in The Premier League!
No doubt Warnock would have conjured something up Remote, but when I look at the options, I doubt they'd have made the same impact. The likes of Feeney and Pilks from the start of the season to Wildschutt and Jamie Ward since January wouldn't have had anything like the same influence as Hoilett. His general defensive play, goals and assists have put us toward the top of the tree - the others would have had left us with something still to climb.
There have been some consistently good and others that have been good when called upon. A few have blown hot and cold but even their cold has been quite warm. Paterson, ralls, bamba, Morrison have all been good every game with etheridge growing into that category. Big Ken has had good games and ok games but is coming into form at the right time. Similarly grujic. Manga, NML, damour, Bennett and Bryson have decent games and very good games. Connlly, Wildschut, jazz, Peltier, the knife, traore, kadeem, feeney, pilks, Healey and bogle have all done their bit. Then there is some one who could anchor us for the final push, gunnar, who hasn't featured for months. Really glad we've got just about everyone fit for the run in though. I'm sure I'll have missed a few, but they have all played a part. FFS though boys, just keep it together for another 8 games.
I know. He's not had enough game time to convince yet. I didn't mention our second most expensive either. Note to Choo and Tan: don't give Colin any more money. He's crap at spending it.
Damn right. If he had headed that ball in last few minutes - instead of letting it run down his nose - it would have been 4.1 and I would have had correct result, score and scorer in the Prediction League. Grrrr.
This worries me. To survive in the Prem ( if we make it) you have to get the big money signings right. Last time neither Malky or Ole got it right
