He's playing soooo well at the moment. He's so dynamic, and creates about 5 clear chances every game for us, he just goes past players as if they're not there. I think now that he's settled down, he's become a real threat, and I genuinely think he is our most important player, ahead of the likes of Jacobson, Sharps and Morgan. Just hope we can keep him in the summer (but sadly I doubt it )
ten assists is it? As was pointed out elsewhere Harrold got that in a season! The board seriously need to extend his contract in order to protect him from snoopers as it runs out in July, and if they do offer after his contract is extended then we have a lever to barter with.
I am amazed that there are many who sit around me who do not rate him. He has been the stand out performer this season as far as creating goals is concerned. He has pace and scares defenders to death. I always rated Mickey Brown but Ainsworth is in a higher league.
I just remember there was one point in the Torquay match in the first half when he picked the ball up on the halfway line, surrounded by 3 Torquay players, turned on the burners and left them all for dead without needing to use a single trick. It says a lot that he's keeping out Taylor, one of our standout performers last season.
Importantly for a winger, he's creating chances even when he seems to be having a quiet game. Whether he's our most important player is debatable because of his position but the main thing is he's a vital part of what is developing into a very good team. When he's really on song, he's devastating - ask Kevin Kilbane at Derby! How long it lasts is another thing. Any successful lower league club will find their players attracting attention. I very much doubt it's as simple as just offering a contract extension to keep him because he probably wouldn't sign it. I don't think I would in his position, I'd bide my time and see how it looks next year. But I'd love to see him sign a new contract with us next summer - as a League 1 team.
Our wing play can be devastating, yet MM and Collins don't score too many headers(not a moan) why could this be? Ainsworth is red hot atm
