Can you believe a team can get relegated with these stats.... 1) We have the 10th best home record in League 2. (Top half form) 2) Only 5 teams have won more at home than us. 3 of them have won only 1 more than us. (Play off form) 3) We have the 10th best defensive record over the full 46 games. (Top half form) 4) We kept 14 clean sheets. Only 11 teams got more clean sheets. (Mid table form) Just shocking!
Hope this helps... 1. Our away record was so embarrassingly bad, and then our home record deserts us towards the end, losing our last 3. 2. We can't score for s**t. I think that was proved yesterday with how many near misses we had. Averaging less than a goal a game means you're asking for trouble.
of course that is a major reason why we are down but with the stats i put at the top, no team should be relegated with that! can only happens to us
Disastrous away record, and couldn't hit a barn door. It's been a wierd season, with only two or three wins between the teams near the playoffs and the clubs near the bottom. Our home record was better than Oxford. Both our relegation rivals played against ten men, which can't have helped although WW were probably home and dry by then. The Cobblers were definitely helped by the sending off. There's lies, damned lies and statistics. Hopefully we can build on the good stuff next season and discover a decent goalscorer on the way. Young Elliot would probably be prolific in the Conference.
just looking at the names of who we have to face, we should be able to hit a lot of teams for 6. but i just dont dont have faith at the moment that we will get a team capable of winning let alone hitting them for 6. we will pretty much have to start from scratch by getting a whole new squad as a lot of players are out of contract and those who still have a contract like smith, o'toole, mcchrystal, parkes etc will get new clubs (i can hear their agents already looking for new clubs now). or they may even have a clause in their contract that if they get relegated then they can leave. a new squad and youths will need to bond together. by that time we could be losing to the likes of braintree. depressing. we will be a lot of teams cup final if that makes sense. no disrespect to wycombe but if i owned majority of these non league teams i would rather rovers got relegated than wycombe.
yes shiny obviously. thats not the thread though. the thread is reading the stats that we have which i posted as the 1st post, how could a team still end up getting relegated with those. you would expect at least mid table. just shows you cant just rely on home form and a not bad defence to keep you up. if we had won yesterday we would have ended with the 5th best home record! crazy!
i honestly dont know. here is the out of contract players.... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/250954-List-of-out-of-contract-players clarke has since signed a new contract since that thread was made. im guess all of them on that list will leave. players not on that list will want to go. i cant imagine smith staying for example. i just dont know who will end up staying. the club will be making a announcment soon though.
On Saturday I was asked who out of the starting line-up would still be at the club if we went down. I said Clarke and Lockyer - can't see any more of that 11 staying, but the likes of Santos, Lucas, Gough (could be our No.1) and Southway should all be here.
We'll need a decent side to get back up - at least League 1 standard. If Higgs thinks we can get back with academy players we'll be in for yet another rough season. We need a few older heads like Steve Elliott... would Clarkson stay?... some of the younger ones like Lockyer, Clark, Harrison and Eliot Richards. They would all do well. Then it's a chance to bring in a few experienced conference players. What a mess!
