I missed the match - my new place doesn't have the net.

But I saw Gordon played...just wondering how he did?

Was he rusty...or did he perform well?

he didnt have much to do tbh but i thought he should have tried to catch the cross for davis's winner, but he just stood rooted to his line.

keepers have to command their 6 yard box at least imo

Martin O'Neill praised Craig Gordon after the keeper made his first senior appearance in more than a year.

The Scottish international has endured a long spell on the sidelines with a knee problem but was handed a chance as Sunderland drew 2-2 with Bolton on Wearside.

Gordon responded well, making a key save to deny David Ngog in the first half before shutting the door on Ivan Klasnic late in the second period.

Speaking afterwards, boss O'Neill was at pains to point out that Gordon's first start of the campaign was no reflection on the performances of regular starter Simon Mignolet, who was rested.

"I thought Craig did very well - he made a really good save towards the end of the game," O'Neill said of Gordon, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

"Simon Mignolet has been terrific for us, so this was no reflection on his performances.

"We discussed [Gordon starting] a couple of weeks ago with all three goalkeepers and said that Craig would play a game at some stage or another.

"He did very well, but again this is no reflection on anyone else at all. It was nice to see him back and playing."

    ............................................................................

    Jury out, for me.

With smithy on this one he could have done better for the cross and, it would have been easier to cut it out than let it go. Maybe a lack of game time or maybe just Gordon as he was never that good at coming for crosses, mind you when did we have a keeper that did do that?
He did okay for not great but, not bad either.
