http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...l-if-it-helps-to-avoid-the-Europa-League.html Quite a funny read
Not in this country. I caught the end of the match yesterday evening and all the European players and fans celebrated like they'd won the CL
It has almost done for Swansea this year, hurt Stoke last year and Wigan were happy to bow out this time around with noone busting a gut to progress particularly - you are right Rob it is a cultural thing and it doesn't cut it here at all.
Part of the problem is the strength of the Prem. It means: (a) you get teams like Swansea, Stoke and Wigan winning/getting to the final of Cups (b) every game in the Prem is so challenging it makes it difficult to focus on Europe The top of the Prem suffers in Europe just as much, because they can't afford to rest players against even the likes of us
Scores a bucket load of goals in the qualifiers and then is anonymous in the big tournaments. To be honest, we probably will get a better result if we play with Sturridge, Welbeck and Sterling
Almost certainly not. To be fair, Lallana's best position is in the hole behind the striker, but Rooney is still easily our best player. A massive blow if he's out for the World Cup. We won't get out of the group without him.
