For the right price I wouldn't say no. RvW, Holt and Hooper would be a significantly better front line.

Anyone feel the need for a massive "Summer Transfer Rumours" thread to stick all the titbits and paper-talk for the summer in one place? It worked pretty well in January and stopped the board being cluttered with loads of threads for players that get mentioned in one newspaper and never again. If so, I'll make the thread and sticky it at some point.

Great idea DH. Soon we will all be desperate for some footie talk in the boredom of the close season.

I would look elsewhere myself, depending entirely on the fee. From the quotes being mentioned in January, I reckon we could get better forwards with that sort of cash to be honest. At the right price though I wouldn't say no, but I find towards 10 mill being a huge gamble.

I would assume his fee would be lower than th january one. Not only does he have 6 months less on his deal but January figures are inflated.

Interesting to see what managerial changes happen. If Lennon was to leave Celtic to say Everton (Unlikely maybe) then players may also feel like its a good time to move on.

I would take Hooper but i wouldnt want to pay more than £5m max.

I'd keep bidding against QPR until the fee reaches £20M then pull out so QPR get shafted <laugh>

Yeah, any more than that and we'd be paying too much. There's probably better options abroad, but I don't know of any we've been linked to, so Hooper is a reasonable target. Send them Becchio in return maybe? Despite him looking good for a few minutes yesterday, I'm not convinced he's got any place in Hughton's plans.

Yes, someone made a mistake. And that same someone you've had disagreements with. Wow. Now let it drop? Petty sniping is hardly pleasant to read.

As I've said on other threads I could see Holt and Hooper in a swap this summer - Hooper gets to show whether he can cut it in the PL and seek a further move to a bigger club and Holty gets to batter weaker opposition and probably win a medal and become a cult hero in Glasgow (well half of Glasgow anyway).

Were we to get Hooper (or any other quality striker) can we see Holty hanging around to be third choice? I'd love to see Holt and the Wolf play in tandem but if we get someone else in Holty won't waste one of his last seasons in the top flight bench warming and I wouldn't blame him in the slightest.

For me the frustration is that Holt has shown what he can do in the last two matches. If he had played like that for the past month or so I reckon we'd have been home and hosed in April.

Trouble is Holt's been told " not to play his normal game" in the last few months!
Had CH have given him a bit more freedom maybe he would of been better? He's clearly been frustrated in recent weeks by playing g a bit part & being restricted in his natural gun ho manor !
I thought he was back nearer his old self yesterday and I'd really now like to see him link up with RVW as a decent striker could feed off of GH.
I personally wouldn't want Hooper I think he'd be to bigger gamble at the money quoted.

Don't fancy Hooper to be honest, but if he comes I'll get behind him. I imagine it would spell the end of Holt.

If the rumours are right about us still being in for him, then at least we know we've got some money to spend on a striker. Maybe Hughton and his scouts can find a gem in europe

I could definitely see Holt + cash for Hooper. Even then I think we might still be looking for another striker, as it doesn't look like Hughton fancies either Becchio or Jackson.

I think Hooper will leave Celtic for about £4m this summer.

In January we were a club desperate for a striker; time was running out; Celtic didn't want to sell; he had over two years on his contract and the player was ambivalent about a move.

All those factors were against us in January, driving the price up. None will apply in the summer, so some premier league team will grab a bargain, and i hope it is us.

I recall Hughton saying after the last transfer window that he would continue to pursue both Hooper and van Wolfswinkel in the summer. As others have said, I can see us bringing him for under £5 million but if they want more than that then I would look elsewhere.
