Not really vetch, he meant it when he said it as it was always a tactic of his to get the fans on his side, he is known for being a politician and he pulled on the heart strings when he felt the need to do so, nobody jumps ship that quickly unless they are ruthless ,not knocking him for his ambition but to say he was not deceitful is IMO looking at him with a romantic notion, the same romantic notion he used to his advantage by saying those things to the jack faithful, it burnt us and tainted the regime of sousa as well including at board level, but that's all history now ;)

I am a bit of a "romantic" Norway, and perhaps that gets in the way sometimes. Wish them both well, except when up against us,of course.

Credit to to our recent managers for what they helped us to achieve - absolutely. From Flynn to Laudrup they have all played a significant part.
That was not my point. I love what BR and Martinez did for us on the pitch and in training, I disliked the things they said/actions when we parted ways.

Laudrup is different in that he won't proclaim his undying love for us and wont BS us either when he does leave. For what he has achieved already and for his 'what you see is what you get' attitude I would be very surprised if he ends up leaving us under a cloud.
Viv la Laudrup, Viva la Swans! <ok>

Why is it we have a fixation about our past managers, they have moved on after helping move the club forward, and as a swans fan I'm grateful for that. It's strange that the two managers who arguably did the most for us are the two taking the greatest flak. Yes Rodgers made some promises he did not fulfil but in all honesty he spewed out a lot of old blarney when he was with us we need to take it with a pinch of salt. Regarding Martinez it must be remembered that his statement about having to being dragged away from the club was made just after he became manager, quite some time before he actually left. Both had a positive effect on our club moving us forward both on a diff the field, and I for one am glad and happy for that. I often wonder how some fans would react if we had a manage who was a jack through and through saying all the right things and totally loyal but was taking us in the wrong direction. Would we remain loyal or be calling for him to go, think I know what the response would be.

It ain't a fixation mate it's part of the fabric of our club, every past employee is intertwined into the swans past, present and future, that's the way it is.

You can look at it your way and also say why have a hall of fame or put statues up of past players, after all they moved on too didn't they ?

The reason the likes of Bobby and Rodgers are perhaps talked about often is because they are at rival clubs and what they do from afar still has a slight bearing on our club, indirectly of course.

We had Rodgers stealing aspas off us this summer didn't we ? It's all relevant IMO and of course a great debate about them is always around the corner as a result <cheers>

Truth be told it's because they meant a lot to us at the time. Like a heartbreak. We used to mean so much to each other and seemed a perfect couple. But we got dropped for something better and it hurt.
Souza had a decent season without playing nice football and left quickly thus there isn't the strength of feeling for him there is for RM and BR.

I think Martinez said his statement when we were in the championship ,though I could be wrong.

The op was spot on and was highlighting the difference in terms of bullshit factor, laudrup doesn't need it to get ahead while the other two are/were nobodies and need to increase their profile if they have ambitions .

Funny part was that the instructor got in the car and the door wouldn't shut, as the button got trapped in the handle. I had to get out and sort it out. Not only that, I had to drive all around Townhill. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I've been trawling through the readers comments on the Valencia game via few sites and the amount of praise for the viKing from supporters at other clubs is overwhelming. The amount of 'I wish he was our manager' type comments was really heart warming.
Quite a few commenting on his refreshing honesty which is nice *smug*

    The guardian
    one is nice in particular.

Never - did you do the reverse up the hill round the corner and down the hill - not being more than a foot away from the curb - it was in the posh side of Townhill

I was executing a three point turn outside my house, tried for reverse, and immediately found the gear stick waving around in mid air.

Needless to say,my firm were not overly impressed with Viva's after that, and changed to Fords.

We also had a couple of Wartburg Knights, anyone remember those? Crap car,but one big redeeming feature - reclining seats!!!

One of my team had one,and he was extremely popular, readily swapping his car for mine, when occasion and necessity demanded!!!
