Fair result over 90 minutes . They had the better of the first half we battered them for the last 30 minutes. Decent game for a 0-0. Thought the pass for TC's goal came off a defender.
I don’t think it was a fair result we were the better team and but for some poor finishing and some good goalkeeping we could have got 2 or 3. I have watched us against Wycombe and Reading and we are just as good as them. I thought Lloyd Jones was magnificent. But if you don’t take your chances you don’t win.
If we had a finisher we would have put that game to bed. But I was impressed with the application shown today.
You couldn’t fault the midfield , wing backs & forwards for their work rate, but they all lack the “X factor”, particularly Tyreece Campbell. Ultimately it’s that little extra spark of quality that sorts the men out from the boys in the league, but it costs money.
Decent display today. We’re definitely getting better but I fear Jones will be sold in this window. If so we’re going back to erratic defending.
Although I was happy with the way we played, our bench is weak. We'd have to change our formation to accommodate Godden, who might have nicked a goal. A couple of injuries or suspensions and we're back to square one. Or if we sell Jones.
According to the SLP on line, the club are now in contract negotiations with Lloyd Jones. Given his age, this is probably going to be his final chance of a life changing deal in football. IMO our chances of keeping him are Nil if there is Championship interest.
If it's up to the SMT he's gone but the unknown factor in this is the influence of Gavin Carter. He may think it's worth the risk of losing him for nothing to have a real go at promotion. Here's hoping.
My understanding from someone who knows the set up is that Carter’s new role is to provide the USA investors with more independent and objective feedback on how all staff at the club are performing- including the SMT. He’s got no day to day operational involvement. Any decision on Jones’ contract will still unfortunately rest with Methven - Scott. If a mid table League One club can still afford to pay six executives very sizeable salaries, there really is no excuse not to secure our talisman defender on a new deal. We need Lloyd Jones far more than we need a Diversity Director (Paul Elliott).
This is how I understand it. The title 'non-executive' does exactly what it says on the tin. Carter will have no decision-making input whatsoever.
