Alright folks, I haven't posted in a while (call it a summer sabbatical) but I have a problem with an order from the Saints shop and I was going to ask for some advice on here before I did anything.

I ordered a medium home shirt, with a name printed, and the Premier League badges. It arrived this morning and when I opened it straight from the packaging I noticed a black smudge on the right shoulder over the white stripes and also a slight bit on the red surrounding it. I am pretty sure it is ink transferred from the invoice, some of the text on the invoice looks smudged and faded. It's not that noticeable but noticeable enough and I have a bit of O.C.D. for such things and it would bug me if it didn't come out and I was stuck with it. I'm swaying towards just washing it, it could be something very basic that will wash out with ease and the invoice says I will have to pay the p&p to return it and I'll also have to wait. I know once I wash it I can't return it though.

    Any thoughts?

If it's ink from the invoice then it should be pretty washable, shouldn't it?

Yeah if it has rubbed off the paper it'll probably come off the fabric too. If not I'm sure you'll still be able to return it.

You can return faulty goods. It would be reasonable to attempt to wash it, so that shouldn't invalidate your consumer rights...just be clear when you state the reason for returning it.

I would probably just take it back to the shop if it bothers you. I know I would probably be the same.

Send it back you mean? I live in Belfast lol. It's washing now anyway, if it doesn't come out in the wash I'll wait until it dries and send it back with the labels and original packaging.

distance selling regulations meant hat you can return anything you buy over the internet virtually for any reason. That is one of the problems these days with selling on ebay. It's another tool for the scammers but something you can't get around. Also if you see any business advertising on the internet an item as 'sold sa seen - no returns' then that is illegal for the same reason.

As for the return postage. If it is the sellers fault then it is for them to pay. May mean you have to pay and then claim it back though.

No need for OCD. It's an imperfect new item. Send it back with a covering note to explain your need for a replacement or refund. Faulty goods and simply unacceptable.

You should never have bought it in the first place. It's crap.

Hope that's been of help to you.

ahh oh man that would have driven me mad. How much did that whole traversty set you back, anyway? I was tempted to go with the same sentiment as CBK on this one but I really felt for you, I would have been so frustrated if I recieved said item in less than perfect condition.

One of my kids SFC shirts a couple of years back came with the security tag still on. One of those magnetic ones....eek :) I begged the tesco till lady to use her gizmo to remove it and she eventually agreed.

    Nightmare though.

It is a birthday present for my birthday on Sunday, my girlfriend was glad she checked it because she was going to hand me it in the packaging it arrived in. I got Lambert on the back so I'm guessing it had been printed beforehand and they've lifted it off the shelves and that could explain why it was a little grubby. It was frustrating but I didn't want to endure the rigmarole of sending it back, paying for p&p, not having it on my birthday etc. Washed it on 30 degrees and it came out spotless.
